I hope this is the right place to ask, but today there is a set of six squares along the left side of my screen. It is quite distracting and I would like to close those boxes. Do we have to "like" PBS on Twitter to get rid of the Twitter box? Etc? I really hope that is not the plan. One of the things you can complain to Google about their ads is "it covers content on the page." These squares do cover content. Tracy Last Edited on: 1/28/16 7:07 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have them too but they don't cover any content for me. Just annoyingly there in the same spot no matter what. |

My question exactly Tracy! |

let tptb know |

They want a screenshot but I can't do that on my phone, can someone else screenshot and show pbs please? |

If they used a grey background for the PBS links, it would be less intrusive. My eyes keep getting pulled to the orange/red/green sequence -and then I see complementary colored squares elsewhere.

It's covering text for me.. |

I guess I should say, on an Apple IPad Air OS revision 9.1 using the Safari browser, these squares cover up many characters of the content on the left side in the middle. I have to scroll up or down around those squares to read the forums. I will seek out the help. If I can locate them around the square boxes. Tracy |

They are horrible. If you're on a cell phone, they cover the text on the left side of each forum post. They also move around. There is no need for this nonsense. PBS take them off! We already have links at the top. These are completely irritating. ETA: I sent in feedback. I've seen some of the responses others have gotten though, (things like "Maybe it'll grow on you?") so I don't know if it'll do any good. Perhaps if enough members let them know through feedback that we don't care for it, they'll remove them. Last Edited on: 1/28/16 9:25 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

It depends on the width of your monitor and such. I use tree tabs for firefox and with the width I use for the tabs it results in the boxes overlapping. If I narrow my tab column it doesn't overlap, but honestly I shouldn't have to modify how I use my browser for something so intrusive. |

Please send in feedback. Really horrible on mobile devices. |

Seems kind of pushy & too much in your face with the location & colors brighter than everything else on the pages. |

Those (EDITED) boxes are in my way on my tablet. |

I tried Adblock but it only removed the pictures, not the colored blocks (or the links.) |

Driving me crazy all day long and they definitely cover text on my iPad. Hope there's a fix for this soon! |

I don't like these either ! My experience so far has been that they may cover content when my browser window is realtively small, but not when I make the window larger. :-( I have also sent feedback via Contact Us that I do not like them. super obnoxious, and i have sent feedback. on other sites, i've seen that you can hide those left side boxes, but they didn't choose to add that here. |

You should let them know on smartphones and ipads they cover text and also about having to change browser settings in Firefox. For me they're annoying but off to the side, but I'm using a laptop, not a tablet, surface, or mobile device. I know many people don't even bother with laptops anymore in favor of tablets and mobile devices, so they should have checked that out. I notice they have removed all the clutter up top, but that was far less intrusive than these large icons on the side with bright color backgrounds. |

I am also frustrated by these new boxes! I cannot use the advanced search function because they hide the text/type boxes and no matter where I scroll or tab to, it will not let me type behind them :P |

They block things on my iPad. |

Gone gone they are all gone |

Apparently PBS realized they only worked on some devices and caused problems for others. Let's hope this thread helped them to realize what was going on and go back to the old unobtrusive icons. |

It was more likely feedback sent by members rather than this thread that caused TPTB to back out the change. |

There's a longer thread about this on CMT. |

When the block started a couple days ago I wondered if it was because of my new iPad. I started to post in the forums to say what was happening to me and saw a bunch of other people having this problem. I'm really glad people posted so we all knew that we were in the same boat. Thank you for posting And keeping us all informed. A big thank you to PBS for removing the hindering blocks. For me and they were actually blocking my view of the screen.
