This is a thread for asking for opinions about specific books or authors.

What do you think of Touched by Magic by Patricia Rice? I've been looking it over and it looks annoyingly old skool to me - heroine winds up married to someone else, refuses to get marriage annulled for some weird-ass reasons of her own.  Should I bother or just toss it?

not familiar with that one! I don't mind threads like this..also like the 'help me find this title' ones too....kinda fun seeing if I know any(only did once I think!) and seeing how fast people can find them! It's the deals threads and wanting deals threads that bug me but I get over it!:)

from the description I'd toss it LOL! doesn't sound like something I'd wanna mess with! we need one of those'voting' buttons so we can hit 'read' or 'rip' or something like that!

I like the what's your opinion on  author/book  threads. They helps me prioritize my TBR pile, alas they also introduce me to new authors (which has turned my TBR pile into a mountain :)).

Sorry, haven't read the book you asked about, but I have to say your description doesn't sound promising.

Saw some books I'm iffy about at the UBS today. Given that I didn't think much of Medieros' Some Like It Wicked, should I bother with Some Like it Wild? And given that I didn't care much for either of Anna Campbell's other books, shoudl I bother with Tempt the Devil?

Hmmm, Willa. I haven't read this book, but I just read the synopsis at fictiondb.com. It's a regency. That in itself can explain the heroine's unwillingness to run off with the hero. And since this book was released in 1992, it is old skool. Right on the tail end of the bodice ripper era.

Overall, Rice's books got good reviews from the genre mags, although this particular title was not reviewed. I say give it a shot. What's the worst that can happen? You waste a couple of hours and DNF the thing. And who knows? It could end up a keeper (okay, probably not - shelf real estate is precious).
