Tammy,  I've read most of her books way back when and I loved them.

**I just realized Paradise and Perfect are written by Judith McNaught, who I also liked...***

I think there are two authors with the name Julie Garwood; I think the romantic suspense books you're referring to, such as The Gift & The Prize or The Secret are written by one Julie Garwood, then some books I've read Killjoy & Murder List, seem to have been written by another author but with the same name! Killjoy was good, Murder LIst was so-so.

Killjoy and Murderlist are written by the same Julie Garwood. They are her newer romantic suspense novels. I thought they were entertaining. I have real all of her books the historical ones including The Gift and The Prize, as well as the newer ones. She has a website at www.juliegarwood.com.

I think her romantic suspense novels are good but not nearly as good as her historical romances.

I agree with Heather, but I do still like her contemporary novels.  They are the same Julie Garwood.

I prefer her historicals over her contemporaries. The contemporaries just seem to lack something her historicals have. Linda Howard and Sharon Sala write really good contemporaries.

Garwood's  The Bride and The Prize are my favorites.

I too prefer her historicals. They seem to have more depth to them. I know she is coming out with a new historical in December. It is a continuation to Ransom. Her website has info about it.

I love her historicals (a new historical is scheuled to be released on Dec 26th!!!!).  Her contemps are ok, but don't add up to the historicals--they're quick reads for me

"Paradise and Perfect were 2 of my favorites that i read at least 2 or 3 times..."

As someone who has read all her books, there are no books with these as titles

Interesting thread. I could have almost believed there were two different authors by that name as I have loved some of her books and found others so-so. At this point, I think I usually like her historical romances best but not always. My favorite of hers is Saving Grace.

I have never been able to figure out what all the fuss is about Julie Garwood's historicals.  I've tried - really hard - to get into her books, but IMO, most of her heroines are absolutely the most irritatingly insipid females I've ever encountered in romance.  I know she has a pretty broad fan base & don't want to insult anyone's personal taste, but I read about a half-dozen of her books (darned if I can recall titles anymore), trying to give her a chance to hook me, but it just didn't work out between us.  Sorry Julie...

I usually buy books that are favorably reviewed by The Romance Reader website, and for the most part, I agree with their reviews; Several Julie Garwood books being among the exceptions, but a name that has come up more often than any others.  Different things appeal to different people though, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from checking out her books.  I'm sure she's popular for a reason, she just doesn't appeal to me personally.
