hello.  I checked today to see if one of the books I mailed last week had been delivered yet, and when I clicked on Details, after it was scanned delivered it says "Unknown PC" and then "Unknown OF"  anyone know what that means?  I wonder if the person moved and didn't update their address?  I've never seen that before, but I will call my post office later today if nobody has an idea?

Thanks!

Melissa

PS It was going from Dover, DE to Deland FL

I don't know what it means, but I see it occasionaly, even when the books are coming to me.  I haven't moved in 20 years so it doesn't mean they have moved.

Those show up on most or all scans.  PC= Process Completed   OF= Out for Delivery....then the book is delivered and usually scanned soon thereafter on the same day. "Unknown" is just how it shows up here, it has no hidden agenda. So, if this is showing up today, then later you should see it as having been delivered today.

"Unknown" means it wasn't scanned by a particular individual.

The Processing Complete event takes place when a bar code in the distribution section is scanned, after all the mail has been sorted to the carriers and box sections.

The Out For Delivery scan event takes place when all the mail has been boxed in the box sections.

These two events link to all the articles that were scanned Arrived At Unit since the previous day's PC and OF scans took place.

It doesn't mean anything, unknown means the computer did it. While trying to find a couple books that went missing between my p.o. and my house that also had those scans the supervisor told me the computer likes to put those on there for no reason, they don't mean anything and they can't change it.

Yuppers, PC is Processing Complete, and OF is Out for Delivery.

Thanks for the replies.  Both books have been successfully delivered(and they both had the Unknown code strangely).  At least next time I know not to worry!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Melissa

The 'Unknown' portion of those scans is actually very common Melissa...no worries.  Now if the scan says missent, redirected, or something similar...there's a problem lol.  But even those end up arriving safely (eventually).
