Clearly I need to check books I receive as swaps more thoroughly before I mark them received. Twice now I have discovered water damage after the fact, and now as I'm reading one of these, I'm also noticing lots and lots of highlighting. (And this is not a textbook.) Clearly I can't post this again, which is a bummer because it's got a long wish list. So what can I do with an unpostable book?

You can offer it as a "freebie" with another (regular) order from your shelf. You can either post that deal (I think there's a thread specifically dealing with that case) in the book bazaar forum, or just make a note on your profile saying, "I have an unpostable copy (due to water damage and highlighting) of ___________ (title/author) _________ (ISBN). If you would like this book, place a regular order from my shelf and PM to let me know you want the freebie." Or something similar.

Just a question, Leslie, would circled numbers in the Study Guide be considered the text pages, or are they supplemental pages. The red pen marks on the other two pages probably make it unpostable anyway, but I don't know how I'd categorize the Study Guide.

You could bring your unpostable books to the Virtual Damaged Books Box game in the Games forum, we love them!  You could also offer them as freebies for book orders off your shelf in the Bazzar.

I second the damage books box.  It's a great way to exchange an unpostable for another book-of course that one will be unpostable too but still readable.  You can't put any really gross completely falling apart books in there. But ones that are still readable but just don't meet PBS guidelines. I got chocolate on a book that had 30+ WLers on it.  I was going to offer it as a freebie from my shelf but I don't have much of a shelf and I have it on hold now anyway.  So I put it in there and it was snapped up right away.  I got a book I haven't read yet in exchange.

If it's not too bad, I offer it as a 'freebie' with another book.  I've had to throw away a couple that I received from PBS though.  Pat
