I was glancing over the progress of some of my wishlisted books when I noticed something peculiar.  For one book, I had been ranked as being 1 out of about 4, and had been waiting for a copy of the book to be posted since about early June.  However, today I noticed that 2 copies of this book had been posted within the last week.  I was bypassed!  I know you're supposed to be notified.  I definitely never was.  I like to check my account once or twice a day (sometimes more) and I am always checking my email throughout the day.  I got suspicious, so I checked another book I was ranked #1 for, this time it was just 1 out of 1.  I looked at the book's webpage and saw, to my amazement, that it is available and able to be ordered!  What the heck is going on here?  Why am I: 1) Not being notified and 2) Being simply bypassed?  I haven't done anything.  My email settings are set to receive emails when a wishlisted item becomes available (besides, again, I check my account all the time).

Help me!!!  What's the point of having a wishlist if it doesn't work?  And, most of the best books all have waiting lists.  What is going on??

Hope someone can help me!

Katie,

I'm not seeing this concern in my wish list. Check to see if you are on vacation hold or that the ISBN you are wishing for is the same as the ISBN you can order. If you continue to experience concerns with the functionality of your Wish List, please contact PBS directly by using the Contact Us link on the bottom of this page.

Thanks,
Daniel

In this case the books may have been posted directly to someone's WL rather than FIFO.

Yes, I'm sure that's what happened. If people post a book directly to a buddy's wishlist, it still shows up as being "last posted" and "wishes granted last week" even if it wasn't granted to you! I've had that on a few of mine too.

If you had been offered the book and it timed out, you would have been totally removed from the WL, so that's definitely not what happened. If you are on vacation hold and you do NOT have your wishlist set to auto-request, you would be bypassed in that instance as well.

When you say you looked "at a book's webpage" you mean the details? Is it the same book (same ISBN) or a different version of the book that is available? Sometimes alternate versions are available in the system, and you have to have the exact ISBN wishlisted to get offered the book even if it might be the same title/author. Are you sure it was indeed available to order--there was an "order this book" button on the details page? What happened when you clicked it?

If everything is working as it should, then definitely notify PBS that things are not working as they should.
