I requested a book three or so weeks ago and It was "mailed" the day after I requested it.

I have been expecting it, but when I looked at my account, my credit was back and the book was gone.

What happened?

Am I not to expect this book anymore?

Could be....Well that sucks.

I mean, how often do things in the mail get lost?

If it wasn't a wish list book, check your reminder list.  When a book goes lost  then pbs uses the RL to kind of store it for you,... as a reminder to order it again.  Altho, I would wait a couple of weeks (unless you have to have it now) because if you re-order and then the 1st book shows up, you are out 2 credits.

You should have gotten an email from PBS telling you the book was lost unless you have notifications turned off.  I had one get lost a couple of months ago.  It was one in a series and I really wanted it, but by the time it went lost there was a wishlist for it.  I had to wait and it so frustrated me!

You also might want to check where the book was coming from...I ordered one that is on its way from Hawaii and I hear it can take a long time.  Just today it was marked "lost" by PBS.  I expect it will probably show up in another couple of weeks.  It is in my transaction archive, so when it does arrive I can mark it as received.

Based on the time frame and the fact that you haven't been a member long (welcome!, btw) I'm not sure it's gone lost.  (That takes 28 days from being marked mailed.)  Look in 'Club Communications' and there will be a message about it whether you have notifications turned off or not.  It will tell you whether it's gone lost or was cancelled by the other member.

I've had two or three transactions end up 'lost' in the nearly three years and more than 500 transactions I've been here.

You should be able to check your Transaction Archive (in that yellow stripe at the top of your main account page) and see what happened with the book.

I was going to suggest the same thing as Kim. Look in your credit registry and Transaction archive.  It's possible that the book was returned to the sender and damaged, maybe it did go lost, or maybe they dropped it in a puddle on the way to the PO but had already marked it mailed. Some people don't have computer access everyday so they mark books mailed as soon as they print the address.  You Transaction Archive will show the book and if it was cancelled or "lost".  Your credit registry will show the credit return.  PBS suggests you wait at least 2 wks before reordering a lost book as they do show up.  Sometimes they go on "vacations" and tour the country before getting to the right place. Sometimes they get misdelivered and the person who got it by mistake is in no hurry to take it to the PO.  You never know.  I recently had a book take nearly a month to go from MD to CT.

Cindy, that's so funny ( sad funny).  I'll bet that it was Fed EX's standard press comment and no one knew there were pictures of the "non-damage".   I was waiting for you to say that they held up your package that was soaked and torn as an example!  Now that would have been really funny!  ;D

Sabrina,  it may be that the sender was relying on someone else to mail the book and found out later that they didn't.  this has happened to me since I can't get out - I rely on DH who is usually very good about it.  But I found I can't rely on my sons' to do it.  They'll let the book sit in their car until the postmark date is past...and I try to plan for a long postmark date just in case it's late being mailed.  You do need to look in all your communications places for some kind of notice.  They can't cancel after marking "mailed" - but apparently something has happened!
