I sent out a book a month ago and today it went to lost in the mail in the system.  I sent a PM to the requester (which I checked and it has been read) saying that I wanted to make sure he hadn't received the book (just in case he had received it and just forgotten to mark it as received, or in case there was something going on that made it so he couldn't get online), and I told him to get back to me and I'd do everything I could with the PO to make sure he got the book.  I'm just kind of upset that he read my PM and didn't get back to me, I sent the book and want to do everything I can to make sure he got it and that I get my credit, but now I'm kind of worried that I'm just going to be out my credit.  Any advice anyone could give me would be appreciated!  Thanks.

It just went lost today so I would give him some time to respond.  He may not have gotten his mail yet today. My mail doesn't come until around 4. If he read your PM at work or hasn't made it out to his mail box then he might be waiting.

I'm not sure there's much the post office can do if you didn't use DC.  I guess you could file a lost item claim and see if they find it somewhere. But I would give the book a few more days to arrive. To do take longer then 26days sometimes.  Especially if going to and from HI, AK, PR or an APO/FPO address.

Thank you, I'm new to this and I wasn't sure what to do.  I appreciate your quick response and I didn't even think about not getting the mail yet or checking it at work.   I'm at home all day so it never occurs to me that others have lives! ;)

Becca, the rule of thumb is to give it a week after writing a pm asking for a reply about a transaction.  If he doesn't reply in a week. click on -- don't hover over -- the Help Center, choose 'contact gthe PBS team and use the feedback option.  The PBS team doesn't try to solve transaction disputes, but they'll definitely step in if someone isn't communicating.

Becca - I sent one out one state over (KS to OK) and it took 6 weeks to get there (I could have walked it in that time).  It did go lost, but I eventually got my credit.  Pat

I sent to a APO - and from correspondence I know this person is stationed in Japan.  The PO said it could take a couple of months because where they are stationed so not to be surprised.   I feel bad because she doesn't have the books yet.

I recently had two books that I had mailed the same day go lost.  Both eventually showed up and I did get my credits.  Hang in there a little longer.

PBS does send out reminder emails about books that are about to go lost.  So some folks get rather touchy over all the reminders for books that have actually not arrived.  Be patient.  A lost book can be marked received by going to the transaction archive.

You can also push the details button to see where it was going.  Media mail to places like AK, PR, and HI seem to always go lost as the media rate just takes that long to get there.

One of my books was declared lost, and it came about a week later.  Hang in there!    :)   D.
