THere are several (8-10??) books that I sent out a long time ago that are not showing up as received by the requester yet.  I mailed these all within 2 days of each other.  It's not time for them to be considered "lost in the mail" but 1) where are they?????   2) it's going to look very suspicious on my account.

No, I didn't use the postage thing, no I didn't put delivery confirmation on them.   There are going to be some PBS members really irate with me because they are not getting their books...and I am out the books.

What should I do?  What CAN I do?  I know if they don't show up in the next day or two the requesting members will get their credits back but still.  UGH!  WHERE ARE THE BOOKS!?????????????????/

You might want to consider checking with the post office that you sent them out from.

media mail can take 3 days it can take 30 days, or in once case from here it can take 6 months.

how long ago did you mail them?  are the requestors still members?  I mailed a book and the person is no longer an account holder so on day 26 when it goes lost I'll get my credit.

oh and I never use DC

Are these books sent out to different people, or was it a multi-order all sent to one person?  I once had someone order 7 books from me at once.  I packed them up in a shipping box sent via media mail, which I think is the absolute lowest priority for the post office.  They took about two months to arrive, and had been marked "lost in the mail" when they finaly got to their new home.

If they're all separate orders, I think the chances of them all being lost in the mail are very very slim.  In two years of trading here and almost 600 transactions, I've only had one or two items go permanently missing.

They were all sent to different people.  The post office can do nothing because I didn't pay for any extra services such as delivery confirmation or insurance.  There is no way to track it. The only thing I can come up with is that with that many books sent at once from our small post office they were all put into one tub. (I worked part time at the post office a couple years ago).  If that tub was lost on the way to the "BIG" post office (I remember one time not too long ago the back of the contract driver's pickup tailgate came open and tubs of mail slid out the back onto the highway but I don't know if that was on the dates that I mailed the books) that's the only thing I can come up with--that the whole tub was misplaced, lost, stolen, horded.  or something else ridiculously weird.

Do you think they could have been stolen somewhere along the line?  I think it's just really weird that they ALL are still not showing up as received.  This makes me ill.

That just sounds too coincidental to me that they all are missing!  Maybe if your local PO isn't helpful, is there a 1-800 number you can call?  Good luck, I hope they all show up soon!

How close are they to going lost? MM is shipped on an as available basis.  It's nearing Christmas time.  MM could take a good month this time of year.
