My only keeper is the first romance I ever read ... "Billy Bob Walker Got Married" Lisa G Brown, stolen from my sisters room when we were in high school. Otherwise I have a fear of (book) commitment so no other keepers. |

Hmmm......let's see these are just a few of my keepers. As we've established I have a problem and keep way too many books. Mary Balogh's Bedwyns (and probably anything of hers I can get my hands on) Gayle Callen (I am slowly buying up her backlist, which luckily, isn't too big) Marsha Canham (ditto) Loretta Chase (her latest is not a keeper, just posted it to wishlist thread, but her Carsington brothers and older books I'm keeping, particularly Lord of Scoundrels and Captives of the Night) Suzanne Enoch (trying to track down her older titles and I'm keeping everything even Sins of a Duke, which I hated, because it is part of a series) Gaelen Foley (haven't gotten around to reading the Spice Trilogy, but I love The Duke and The Pirate Prince) Julie Garwood - The Bride and The Wedding (I have a lot of hers, but those are the ones that have a special place) Lorraine Heath - Texas Destiny Victoria Holt - Pride of the Peacock, one of the earliest books I ever read Linda Howard - Mackenzies and older titles although I still haven't tracked down Bluebird Winter Susan Johnson - to remind myself how good she WAS Laura Kinsale (everything I can get my hands on) Constance Laux - Diamond Rain Johanna Lindsey - mostly out of nostalgia Judith McNaught - nostalgia Susan Elizabeth Phillips Julia Quinn - The Duke and I (I have all the other Bridgertons as well, but this one is the best) Karen Robards - Scandalous J.D. Robb - In Death series Nora Roberts - I am clearing out a lot of Nora, but keeping quite a few, too, including Promise Me Tomorrow Francine Rivers - Mark of the Lion series and a couple in TBR (Redeeming Love!) And many more like Jo Beverley, Sylvia Day, Sabrina Jeffries, Laura Lee Guhrke, etc. may update later... ETA: Julie Garwood - Ransom (how could I forget that one?) Actually, I am doing an inventory of all my books, putting it all into a new Excel spreadsheet. I have gotten about halfway through the historicals and I'm over 500. Ouch! Time to get reading and start weeding! Good thing contemporaries and paranormals are a little smaller. And this is just romance. I need to go through my regular fiction and non-fiction as well. Sigh.

My stuff kinda reminds me of Grace's setup there - the books even look the same:P - but I have 14 jumbo Rubbermaid drawers that stack in two units instead of a large bookcase, and they hold about 50 books in each drawer, and then two tall media shelves that will hold about 100 paperbacks each on them. On the media shelves, I figured out that the units made for videotapes accomodate paperbacks very well with a couple of shelf adjustments. Personally, I like the plastic drawers better for keeping my books clean and free of dust, but those are good for transitional stuff I haven't decided what to do with yet. I haven't done a book count in a long time, but that's how I estimate them - by about how full each drawer and bookshelf is at whatever given time. |
