I'm thinking of replacing my mattress and box spring within the next year, and I know these go on sale about once a year, but I can't remember when.  Anyone know mattress-buying season?  Thanks!

gosh they're always advertising them around here! lots of competition. a coworker also checks sears outlet..think there's al ink from their website - every time she wants a new appliance or furniture or anything..she's gotten some great deals on stuff with just a scratch or mismatched mattress/boxsprings and just stuff that didn't sell because they bought too many or whatever.

Another thing you can do, if you can afford it, is to offer to pay cash.  When I bought my new bed, I asked them to work up the price (matress, box springs, headboard, framework and special protective cover) on the payment plan (free financing, 10% down, pay it off in a year).  Then I asked how much it would cost if I just paid cash for it.  They knocked off about $250 and gave me free delivery to an address 20 miles away.   It amounted to about an extra 20% discount, plus the free delivery (a $50 service), the matress was already $200 off...so I think I got a good deal (and the bed is wonderful).

I got my set on Memorial Day, I think.  I would just watch the advertsements.  I know that they have matress sales periodically year round.

Memorial Day is usually big for mattress sales--and check Costco, they're usually less expensive there for whatever they have.
