When you pick up a suspense book you always hope that the story has a few heart stopping moments and some great twists and turns. In When a Heart Stops those heart stopping moments start off right away! If there was a ever a story that "grabbed me from page one" it's this one! While When the Smoke Clears was a good book, I liked this story so much better just because the killers were so creepy and the crimes were chilling. I got goosebumps more than a few times so I'm glad I read this on a sunny day rather than late at night or I may not have been able to get to sleep!

Serena, a medical examiner, and Dominic an FBI agent are investigating murders that are more than likely the work of a copycat serial killer. While investigating things become personal for Serena especially when she recognizes a victim and then is threatened herself - more than once. Dominic is determined to protect Serena and find out and save the killer's next targets.

I loved everything about this book including the major creep out factor of the Doll Maker Killer *shivers.* I don't know about you but I liked to be scared sometimes but I can't say that that has ever happened to me while reading Christian fiction. This was definitely more of a psychological, get-inside-your-head thriller than anything I've read in the genre. That said there were a few issues with the story that made me dock it a half star. For instance Serena had a letter from a friend that the killer was after but Serena didn't notify the investigators because of a promise she had made to said friend. I'm sorry, but if lives could be saved or a killer captured by details gleaned from any part of that letter it should have been handed over ASAP. When a Heart Stops was still an excellent suspense novel and I'm definitely picking up the last book to see if the mastermind behind all these crimes is finally caught and brought to justice.

Oh the bodies are dropping! I think there must have been another murder every twenty pages and there really isnt much time to do a whole lot of gawking with this novel.

Im not a blood and guts kind of girl, Id rather reader a romance over a murder, so when I read a murder, I take them suspenseful. If youre going to creep me outthen. creep. me. out. I think this novel didnt a pretty fair job of that task. The balance between murder and romance was pretty well level, though it did tip a bit heavier towards the murder business side.

The novel did feel a bit as though there needed to be a killing to keep the tension level high, but I didnt think it too much until the ending.

I loved it when the story took a personal turn for our heroine. Putting someone close to her in danger, totally upped the anty and pumped my blood. Excellent moment in the novel. The only place where I thought it totally came out of character for the novel was at the end and the twist. Which of course I cant say anything, so my lips are sealed, except to say I didnt see it coming and wasnt sure it really fitbut thats just my personal opinion.

All in all, great book, cliffhanger ending, darn that author! ;-) And I have to wait more months until we figure out whats in that envelope people were killing over. Shoot.

Pun intended.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publisher for my copy to review.

What a thriller! Lynette sure knows how to write a humdinger! When a Heart Stops is the second book in the Deadly Reunions series and I am anxiously awaiting the third one now. You can't do this to us!!

Everyone knows I am a sucker for a good suspense novel. I love them! Especially when you put in a bit of romance and some murders, maybe throw in some personal danger to the heroine, and I am all set! If you are anything like me, then this book is a definite buy for you. Lynette brings another novel that makes your heart thump and you turn the pages faster and faster to figure out who did it. And don't even get me started on the ending, of course it is a cliff hanger! No fair!!

This book stars Serena, who we met in the first book, When the Smoke Clears. And she gets to meet handsome FBI agent Dominic Allen. Aren't they always so handsome and dangerous in the books? Well, Dominic is no different. And he happens to be Serena's crush ever since she was younger. I liked Serena a lot and she has quite the spirit. She has a lot of mystery to her, if you remember from the first book. And this could come back and haunt her if she doesn't tell the right person. I am the type of person who tries to guess who the bad guy is and I have to tell you, I thought I had it figured out. But nope! Was totally wrong.

No more to tell or you won't need to get the book yourself. Just enough to make you interested:) Again, I am not just saying this, if you love a good suspense book, pick this one up! Lynette knows how to write an excellent mystery and the only problem I have now is waiting for the next one. A cliff hanger at the end of this one and many moons to wait for the ending. Keep them coming, Lynette! We love em!

WOW! Talk about great suspense! In Book 2 of the Deadly Reunions series, Lynette Eason picks up where things left off in Book 1, When the Smoke Clears. When a Heart Stops is filled with fast-paced action and suspense! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen next! Who was behind the murders? And exactly what's in that package?

Of course, since we're talking suspense here, you can' t help but try to figure things out. For more than half of the book, I thought I knew who was behind the murders, and continued to second guess myself. But in the end, I was wrong. With so many twists and turns, Eason really has your mind thinking, and trying to solve the mystery right along with the characters, which is part of what makes the book so great. You just can't figure it out! The pages were flying, as I raced to the end to see what would happen! Things were tied up -- somewhat -- but there are still some unknowns and loose ends hanging there . . . waiting to be uncovered in Book 3 (which can't come soon enough!).

I know it can be cliche to say, but this book truly has that heart-pounding suspense that keeps you turning pages way past your bedtime! Eason's storytelling is top notch, and takes the reader to the point of really feeling the character's emotions . . . the fear, the adrenaline rush, and the heart-racing tension. I don't like to be SUPER scared, but this book did just enough to creep me out when it was time to turn out the lights and head up the stairs to bed.

The romance and faith elements were light, yet very believable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy Christian Romantic Suspense! This series is best read in order, and not as stand alone titles. Be sure to pick up When the Smoke Clears first, and then be ready to jump right into When a Heart Stops -- it's a fast-paced ride you won't want to miss!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - just like I enjoyed Deadly Reunions #1 (When the Smoke Clears). NOTE: I would definitely read this series in order. They sort of build on one another. Unfortunately, I read them out of order. That being said . . .

Serena Hopkins is a medical examiner & enjoys her job. However, a serial killer is on the move & Serena is going to become his target. Although at first Serena doesn't seem to be in danger, many things start happening to her to accelerate the alarm for her life - several break-ins, attempted hit-and-run, to name a few.

Meanwhile, the doll-maker killer is leaving dead bodies all over the city. Dominic Allen (FBI agent) & Serena race against the clock to find out who is performing these horrific acts.

Dominic Allen starts falling hard for Serena. Serena has had a crush on Dominic since childhood, but he was significantly older so didn't give her the time of day even though she was good friends with his sister, Alexia.

An old friend, Jillian contacts Serena & asks her to keep an envelope sealed & hidden in case she disappears. Her friend disappeared 10 years ago after their high school graduation. She saw something that put her life in jeopardy so she fled - not telling either Serena or Alexia what happened. Are these attacks on Serena related to this package?

I guessed the killer less than halfway through the book & was right! :-P

This book was very similar to the first book in theoretics. It's the same basic idea. Someone is out to get the women & the men are swooning over the ladies & constantly trying to protect them. I did really enjoy this book though & would definitely recommend it. Another great read from Lynette Eason!

Can't wait to read Book #3!!!
