I order books for myself (regular print) and for my mother (large print), but at least half of the time, the large print books are regular print when they arrive.  I cannot create a separate account for her, but the Club goes me email address and she has none; therefore I can't put a special criteria that reminds senders that all books need to be large print.  Do you have this problem?  How have you solved it?   Most members will give me my credit back, but that stilll doesn't give me a reliable source of large print books for Mom.

Holly - you can add a requester condition prior to requesting a specific book for her, then take it off for your own transactions.

Hi Holly! I really want to laugh...I have the exact same issue as you. My mother need large print books also and she doesn't have a computer in order to have an email address. So I take care of getting all her books. I had that happen once already and I did what you did. I email the sender and the refunded my credit. The next time I ordered a book I PMed the sender before I requested to make sure it was Large print. The other think you can do it buddy up with other's who need Large Print books also!

I'll send you a buddy request! Good luck!

John Sandford's DARK OF THE MOON just arrived in Large Print by accident. If you want it, please PM me!

DH just can not read the Large Print. I can manage, but it is difficult to get the story to flow because my eyes don't pick up whole phrases when they're so big. I wish when people listed a Large Print book, they'd put that in the TAG, rather than depending on the PBS databank to indicate it. This is the second time we've receive Large Print books when they were NOT listed that way. Both were Wish List books, so now I'm back at the end of the line!

Check the ISBNs when you get a regular print book instead of Large Print and vice versa.  If they do not match, then you recieved the WRONG book.  Trust me, I've been there, done that too many times to count.

And if people have a Large Print book but it does not come up that way when they go to post it, they are suppose to post it without an ISBN.  Same if they have a standard print book that shows as Large Print when they try to post it.

I wish when people listed a Large Print book, they'd put that in the TAG, rather than depending on the PBS databank to indicate it.

Lynn, because that tag is attached to the ISBN and some publishers use the same ISBN for both Large Print and standard that would not work.

To the OP, depending on how oftern you order books for your Mom you can try to do this one of two ways.  If you don't order too many, just type up a simple RC, such as:

"I am ordering this book for my Mother who needs Large Print.  If this copy is not Large Print, please decline this request."

And then just turn on the RC before you order whatever book she wants.  If, however, you order nearly as many books for her as you do for yourself then perhaps a variation on the RC I have would be something for you to think about.

"Please make sure the ISBN number that I have requested matches the ISBN number on your book. You can verify this by clicking on the title of the book. If the ISBNs do not match, then (1) please cancel the order and (2) remove your book from your bookshelf and repost it with the correct ISBN so that someone else who orders your book will receive the correct book.

The reason I have this is because a number of the books I order are Large Print, which may or may not show in the title.  I also order normal print books so please do not decline if the book I ordered from you is not Large Print but the ISBN matches. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me (EasyForTheEyes) a personal message before accepting the order and mailing the book. Note: If I receive the wrong book, I will click on 'Requestor Conditions Not Met' when the book arrives. Thanks so much for your help in this matter."

Holly, I have a ton of Large Print books and am always looking for more.  Let me know genre or authors your Mom likes and I will keep an eye out and let you know when I find something that might interest her.  (My shelf is on hold right now cause I'm due to give birth any day now but I'll be back soon.)
