I received a book one week ago that was badly water damaged. I sent the sender a pm asking for my credit back. Not only have I not recieved a credit, but I haven't received a response with her stating "The book was fine when I sent it." I know that PBS has rules requiring a response in 7 fays, so what happens when they don't respond? She doesn't have a public profile so I can't see how long she's been a member, she only has 8 books on her shelf and only one on her WL, so I have a feeling my transaction was one of her first and she may have done a drive by. What should I do now, let it go? I don't carry a surplus of credits, so spending one on a damaged book sucks!

regretfully, there is nothing R&R can do about making her give you a credit back but, if she doesn't respond in 7 days please do report that to R&R.  They will check out her account or whatever they do and it is my understanding it will put an additional (if you reported the book RWAP) on her account.

I know it isn't fair, not nice and all those things and I have experienced it myself.  Had one received with quite a bit of damage (cover splitting apart, mold, etc) and the sender refused to give me my credit back and only responded after I told her I'd report her for not responding to my PM's.  She may have responded but I reported her anyway.

Sorry you've had this experience.

Angela, I found this in the Help Center:

If a book you requested with a credit arrives with a problem, you need to PM the sender (instructions below).  If the sender does not respond to your PM within a week, let us know.  Non-response to PMs that clearly ask for a response acts as a "double black mark" on a sender's account, and non-response from a sender after this pattern is established in his/her account will be taken as admission of fault.   We will intervene in those cases.

So be sure to let them know!  You can click on the Help Center up above and then click on "Contact the PBS Team"
