Chronologically this is the 1st book in the series but was published 2nd. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as "No Words Alone". I didn't feel the chemistry between the two love interests at all. This book however did allow me to see the heroine from Now Words Alone in a whole new light and why she made the decisions that she did. If nothing else, good insight into that book.

Good read, action-oriented futuristic romance. I read her No Words Alone sometime ago and really liked it - this book comes before that one on the chronology of the universe. The heroine from Words is just leaving home for the academy to become an explorer. [In the world of publishing, Words was published before this one.]
Gem, the oldest Harrisdaughter, manages her inn and her family with precision, control, and formidable to-do lists. Enter Hyna Blue who seems to be a ne'er-do-well drifter who hangs out in her bar. She offers him a job and attempts to manage him along with everything else. Suddenly everything starts to go wrong - her youngest sister wants to leave, her middle sister is wound so tight she's ready to explode and Blue refuses to behave respectably. And then someone seems to be trying to kill her...
Hyna Blue is tracing a drug operation that seems to be centered on the inn. How could it be happening without Gem knowing? Is the woman he lusts after a crook or a dupe? And boy is she going to be mad when she finds out he's been lying to her...
