I am just curious as to when you should take books off your WL? I have a WL book that will be going in the mail around the 14th of this month. Should I take this book off my WL now since it will be sent to me? Or should I wait for it to go in the mail first? The book is still on my WL because it wasn't the "Exact" Book I had listed in my WL. It was similar to it.... So I think I need to take it off myself right??

Thanks for the help!

I would wait until you have it in hand.  Anything can happen.  Once you mark the book received, the system may ask you if you want to take the other versions off your wishlist.  This doesn't always happen though, so you may have to delete it manually.

I wouldn't take anything off my WL until I had it in my hot little hands. I just had a WL book go lost in the mail. If I'd removed the other versions of the book from my WL, I'd've lost my place in line there.

So unless you've got a book on your WL that you're are just not interested in any more, I'd wait until I had a readable and postable copy of the book.

I kind of go by how badly I want the book and how long the line is for the other versions and how likely it is to be posted. If it's a long line then I keep them up and hope it doesn't get offered before the other one comes.  If it's a short line and somewhat easy to find book then I might delete it knowing I probably won't have to wait long for another one to come my way.  If a WL goes lost, you will be put back in the spot you were in before it was posted, for that ISBN anyway.

I don't take it off my WL until I have it. I've had too many not show up.

If a second copy is posted I either go ahead and take it (depending on how confident I am), or, if there are people behind me in the WL I decline and let it go straight to them.  I think it's silly to accept the book if I am pretty sure I have a copy coming and someone else wants it.  If I'm the only one on the WL I'll accept, since the poster nicely posted a WL book.

Like mahbarr, I keep books on my WL until I have a copy in my hot little hands.

This hasn't happened yet, but if I have a WL book en route and get an offer for a different version of the same book, I plan to turn the second offer down.

Once the WL book arrives, I promptly delete all other versions off my list. But not a moment sooner.

I generally only put one version of a book on my WL, but occasionally will have both, and in that instance, my own personal preference is to remove the alternate versions from my WL as soon as the other book is marked as mailed. I've had so few books go lost that for me at least, it's not worth it to take up a WL spot once the other version has been marked as mailed--if it DOES go lost, I'll go back on the front of the WL line for that book anyway.
