My guess is those links are for sites that are designed to give people online "money" for video games because all of those listed are popular online games.  People can make a lot of money by selling the game's currency type for real money.  It's kind of sad in a way when you realize people spend hundreds of real dollars (or whatever currency) for virtual money.

People spend $ for entertainment all the time--movie tickets, books, magazines.

Someone I know who bought items in an MMoRPG world pointed out he worked full time. He wanted to sit down and do whatever he wanted to in the game world.  It was more worthwhile to him to spend 1 hours worth of his paycheck to get whatever items let him do this than to spend a 8 hours in game getting his character to that point.

For an entertanment vaue per dollar, sometimes it makes sense to pay someone else to do some of the grunt work, or something you just don't feel like.

The links are for RMT - Real Money Trade.

A lot of us who play MMOs are very much disdainful of those who farm to sell gold and those who buy gold instead of earning it.  The whole RMT thing can severely turn a server's economy to trash.  It's one of the reasons I stopped playing FFXI.  I couldn't afford to buy what I needed and I did not have the copious amount of time (24/7 playtime) to fight the goldsellers (who typically used exploits to beat the common player to things) for mobs/spawn points so I even attempt to afford the items I needed.
