Claire is divorced, "pushing forty with a short stick," and bone-tired of being a single mother in a suberb where everyone is coupled. Tim seems to be everything she ever wanted. But Claire may not be able to have the man of her dreams without losing the only people she loves more: her children.
I really like Joyce Maynard's writing style. So down to earth. WHERE LOVE GOES is like watching and hearing about your best friend's life. Claire is divorced with two children, holding down a job and wishing for a romantic partner to rebuild her broken family. There is one romance she can not quite make work and never truly understood why not. Then comes Tim with his daughter.....the love was there (sort-of), sex was exciting, but blending families just didn't seem to run smoothly - then LIFE came along with a blow and everything changed.
This is so like people I have known.
