Where do all the uploaded book cover photos go?

Not a real complaint, because I love PaperBackSwap!

I have loaded at least 5-6 covers for entered books on my bookshelf that do not automatically load a book's cover.

Just wanted to know what happend to them. Is there a copyright issue?

I would volunteer some time to load or link these pictures to the right book and ISBN number. Shouldn't be all that hard.

They do have to wait to be approved and there may be some lag in that due to the holidays.  The volunteers that approve the images may be taking some time off around the holidays.

All the images have been approved.

You can also click on the blue "no image" and it should let you upload.

Lately,(shouldn't say lately - I'm sure they were there before I became an approver LOL!)    there have been a few issues I've noticed -

1 - cropping and the Amazon arrow as Cindy noted

2 - don't  upload images of hardcovers w/o dust jackets where the actual binding of the book doesn't have the title and/or author's name listed

3. cover of the book only - I've had pictures of the back, people holding the book so you see hands, hair, their kitchen, etc.

Any questions, let us know and thank you for helping! :-)

I uploaded at least 5-6 new covers in jpg format that are at least 500pixels high and can be easily resized.

This time it might work.  Don't like books on my bookshelf that are blank pictures.

Thanx!

Every single time that I have tried to upload a book cover I ALWAYS get a message that there is already an image pending for that book, yet it never appears...I will check weeks later and it still isn't there.

Sally, all I can say is keep trying or PM me the ISBN's that you are having problems with and I'll check with the approvers to see what is up with those particular covers.

Sally - I've had the same issue with a few ISBNs.  The weird thing is I went to the approval queue and there wasn't a image waiting to be uploaded.  Then there are some that I upload, approve and for some reason, just don't show up.  In some cases it took 2-3 attempts for the image to "stick."  I'll have to take a look at the image approvers posts and see if there's any info I can find.

Ed - I approved your images so your bookshelf should be all set.  Nice job on the images!!

Sally and Suzanne:

Just tried an experiment with a wish list book and loaded up a fresh image for "World Without End" by Ken Follett (sequel to "Pillars Of The Earth").

Hope it gets approved and loaded.

I would like to volunteer to post book covers.  Maybe it would help give something back for this great service!

Ed, that would be great!!  Here's a link to the info on helping with images and data: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=60867

I have to say, it does get addictive!  The data team is taking on members by alphabet...it didn't seem so bad until I realized the A category has 81 pages and some members have several hundred books on their shelves!

Any questions, please let anyone of us know.  Thanks and Happy New Year!

First, I want to compliment and say "Thank you" to the volunteers that approve and upload the images!!!!  Anna has been a gem!!

Several days ago, I saw a thread in which a member was offering to find images and help "dress" your bookshelf.  I had Soooo many misssing photos I just couldn't ask, but I did ask for some info and she was kind enough to give me some tips and got me started.  The first day was very frustrating......then one of the volunteers....answered my questions and got me on the right track.

I'm not one to give up.....I have a "need" to figure it out.......and spent a number of frustrating hours working at it....LOL ( I can laugh now!!!)  But, I figured it all out, have a system and a plan, and have uploaded images for over 60 books on my shelf in the last few days.   I've been thrilled at how quickly the volunteers have approved them.....some within a few hours...all within a day!   The size and cropping seem to be the biggest factors in finding success.  The Upload Book Covers Link at the bottom of every page, seems to be the best way for submitting.  Several of my individual submissions didn't seem to go through.

Addictive....doesn't even begin to describe it!!!  LOL   Today, I had to set time limits for myself!!!  I'm on vacation this week, so am considering this image searching and uploading as a new "hobby".    I am loving the way that my bookshelf is shaping up!!!

I'm new at this, and the PBS members have been so supportive!!  Thanks again to the volunteers for all your work!
