This one was kinda hard to rate. I really didn't understand the stylistic choices (black & white) until I read the author's afterward.

I also didn't care for the way the characters were drawn (which is kinda blurry at times, and I couldn't identify them) because it looked like someone wast trying to do gesture drawing with ink-n-quill right on the page. Again, once I read the afterward, I liked it a bit better because, yeah, for once, female characters were drawn realistically - not as bimbo-fied barbies of ridiculous proportions.

That said, it's a decent Hitchcock-style 'who-done it?' mystery. And I appreciate that the Marshall actually had to spend extra time after the apprehension to figure out what and why the murders too place. (The suspect doesn't tearfully admit anything, nor does he turn out to be a diabolical genius.) The whole story could only take place in Antarctica, and I learned a lot (damn them!!!) about life on the ice.

So it's a pretty neat read. Not great, but, if you find it used, and like strong female protagonists and murder mysteries, you may dig it.
