I've been a member since last December and have always used pbs postage and dc.  I always click on the check mark of books that I've mailed to see where they are.  I've mailed out quite a few books and have done this each time.  I mailed one book on July 3 and another on the 5.  My map (when I click on the check mark) is and has been blank for these books.  Have you ever had that happen?  Could it be a glitch or does it mean that they were never scanned at my local post office (or does the mail carrier do that)?  It worries me that they have not, according to this, left my local post office.

Any hints or suggestions?

I'm not sure but I have 23 books out and only a couple show scanned - definitely not normal but I don't know if it's a PBS glitch or a USPS one.

I'm having the same problem.  It looks like the feature was updated so that may be the problem.  The pop-up window is different and so is the main screen.

It's a glitch, I think.  I have a book sent for which the green check did work but doesn't any longer.  I'm pretty sure my book's still out there and on it's way (though for some reason the PO routed it through Florida on it's way from Ohio to Idaho lol).  They changed the details pop-up and added detaiils to the basic pages like including the label printing details.  Sometimes when they make these upgrades glitches occur but it'll be fixed soon enough.

I always click on the check mark to see where and when they geot somewhere since I depend on others to mail the books.  The ones I mail this past weekend are not showing up at all.  I'm getting upset.

Definitely a glitch, it happened before, then it was working for awhile, now I noticed it's a blank map again.

Thank goodness!  I feel better that it's evidently a glitch.  I was envisioning going to the post office (which I hate to do--this is why I use pbs postage, etc. and just put the books in my mail box) and asking what in the world they did with my books.  I'm assume that they are on their merry way.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies.

If you click on the Details link, you will be able to see the actual DC # attached to that book. You will also see the scans that PBS knows about. You can take that DC # and paste it into the tracking blank at the USPS website and see all the scans that USPS knows about.

If PBS has scan records that don't show up as dots on the map, then there's a PBS glitch. The map is just a cute thing anyway, it has nothing to do with where the book actually is. The scan data tells as much as it is possible to know.

If USPS has scan records that don't show up in the PBS details, then there is a problem somewhere between USPS and PBS. Either USPS isn't giving all the info, or PBS isn't processing it correctly. There's no way for you to tell exactly where the problem is.

If USPS doesn't have any info either, then the glitch is on the USPS side. They're either not scanning your packages or they're not uploading the data from the local P.O.s to the central computers.

Thanks, Cathy.  I really know that the map is just a "cute thing;" however, when it shows a place (I'm guessing some sort of postal center) where it has been scanned, it lets me know that the book is on the way.  I appreciate your method of checking, but that's probably more complicated than I want to do.  I will check the details.  I guess that I just think to do that on books sent to me that don't have the check.

I mailed on on July 7 early am in the same city it wasd going to, today July12 it finaly shows it's in Atlanta, I thought for sure it would get there quick since I mailed it in the same city and now it's in another city. Sheesh. Not to mention I just got my instant credit today, five days later.

Something I just found out about PBS DC.  The post office is not required to scan you book while it is enroute, they are only required to scan it when it reaches its destination.  That may be why some are not showing up.  All post offices follow different regulations and some scan every one.  Your book may not show up until it is several states away.  You can never tell.  My post office informed me they were not required to scan it and since I only paid $.18 they would not.  That if I wanted it scanned I had to buy the $.75 one off of them.  I do not get my credit until it is scanned somewhere, so I am just holding my breath until someone does.  There is nothing I can do about it.
