The former include Sean MacBride, Pedar O'Donnell, Todd Andrews, General Michael Brennan, Lt Gen M.J. Costello, Colonel Dan Bryan, Sheila Humphreys, Maire Comerford, Liam O'Flaherty, Sean Dowling and close relatives of Sean MacEoin and Ernie O'Malley, whose biographies the author has also written. Part One of the work is a revision of "Who's Who in the Irish War of Independence 1916-21" (Mercier, 1980). Part Two updates the earlier book by including the Civil War period. For each section there is a chronology of the main events, and appendices give casualties by category, executions, and so on.« less
