This is an interesting book on why birds sing. Rothenberg looks at birdsong with the mind of a musician exploring the balance and rhythm of different birdsongs, describing how they sing (first music, then mating dance, then more music). It's clear that Rothenberg is delightfully fascinated and his wonder carries the reader along for the journey.

This is a great library addition for someone who understands music theory.
