if they are not colored in? there are a lot of excellent Dover's and "adult" coloring books.

I dunno either.  Perhaps because the assumption may be that they probably won't be traded again?  Maybe the thinking is that they are all 'keepers' as they're intended to be colored in?  That doesn't really make sense though, as we're allowed to keep any book we request from PBS.

I think it's a bummer, too.  I'd love to be able to find some of those great (non-colorred in) books for my friends who still love to color!

Could we make a Discussion Board specifically for trading them?

Jo, you are correct. That was the explanation I received from either Richard or Robert a few years ago. You won't be able to put them back in the system. I listed some in the past before knowing this and they were requested fast. I know members will request them so I don't know why we can't trade them either.

I have seen some on here, and I say Live and Let Live.  I've also seen people's posts complaining about them being posted because they are against the rules.  Don't complain, just don't order them if you don't want them.  Book condition is more important.  I think the only time it really matters is when people get a couple free credits for posting their first 10 books.

I've seen swaps for them in the games forum before.  I think if they open it up to adult type coloring books then you'll get a bunch of people posting their kids coloring books as well.  And you just know people will send them out with a page partially done, saying "well it was only part of a page, the rest was still good".

I did a coloring book search and there are 275 posted.  I say post them and buy them if you want them.

I agree, if someone wants them why can't they use their credits for them? Dover books are more than coloring books. They have a lot of great educational material in them. My daughter loved these books.

Workbooks aren't going to be reposted again either, but they are allowed.

I hear people complain about books they receive in the mail that don't meet PBS guidelines and they say "people just think rules don't apply to them."  I hate to be the negative in this but, if you post Coloring Books you just put yourself in that category...

per the Help Center:

Coloring Books: NO

Now that I think about it... some craft books.  I once found three stencil books at a thrift store for a really good price. They were snapped up quickly and I'm guessing that the stencils were used and the books were never reposted.

IF they allowed comic books then they'd have to allow ALL comic books, I think.   That would include that Disney Princess one as well as the Dover ones.   I think it's just an area they don't want to go into.    BTW I ordered a Disney book for my niece - turned out it was a sticker book which is NOT allowed.   I let it go because I should have checked more carefully before ordering.

I am not for going against the regulations that have been set up for this site.  Once we start that - where do we stop?  If we bend that rule for a few - then can't we bend the "no water damanged" book for others?  Just my thoughts.

If you want to swap something not allowed on this site, find another site for them. The rules say don't post them. Just because otherw have broken that rule, doesn't make it OK. I would guess that the ISBNs are coming in from their sources for that info and that is why they show up, not because they are allowed.

The rules are clear, don't post them on PBS.

They also cant go media mail. I suspect thats the main culprit for not being able to trade them here because thats why we cant trade magazines, tarot decks and flash cards as well.

Anything can offered as a freebie. (at least anything you can legally mail).

I've also seen people's posts complaining about them being posted because they are against the rules.  Don't complain, just don't order them if you don't want them

But that is the whole point and part of the problem we keep encountering here, refusal of  some people to follow the established rules. You CAN NOT just pick and choose which rules you will or won't follow. It doesn't work that way and makes a person look childish. It is like saying to Richard "I don"t want to follow the rules and you can't make me, na na na na!"  Charming.

I don't repost a lot of books I get from PBS - 1.  Because they're by an author I like so I'm keeping them and (2) when I check to see how many are ahead of me, there are so many it will be years before I get to the top of the list, and even then with people doing trades in the Book Bazaar, you can be at the top of FIFO and still not get your book taken for quite some time.

I would think if there's nothing wrong with a coloring book (or any other book, I'd guess) and someone wanted it and didn't want to repost it that should be ok.  There's nothing that says we have to repost our books.  Just MHO.  Pat

If the coloring book is a Dover coloring book, I would think it could be mailed media as well. Dover coloring books are educational and I don't believe they have advertising in them?

I would guess coloring books don't meet the Media requirement for Media Mail.

Ok, so what are the sites you CAN order them from?  I'd like to know that and since they aren't legal on here, sharing that info should be ok, right?

Hey, what are "adult" coloring books? I did a search and found 8...  they all looked like kids' themes to me.  Just my thoughts tho.  :)

"I" like to color, when my hands aren't hurting so much.... now I want to find these coloring books.  hehe
