It doesn't pay to come here anymore cause there are only a few people offering deals. I had a 5/1 for almost a whole month and I only had one person take me up on it. Why are there so few people pariticipating here anymore? Has it come to the point where the only people interested in this particular part of the site are not interested in books but in only selling credits? I don't even hardly come here anymore. There used to be lots of people offering a variety of deals and now there are almost none. I would like to see a revitalized site where people bring their books here for bargains and make it fun again or I am afraid more people will become as disenchanted as I am. Sandra

I am afraid the cost of doing business on this site has created a problem for a number of people who are unable to afford not only the rising costs of the post office but the fees on this site. Too bad.

I have a deal.... but no one has taken me up on it.  Even added a few books, but they all got ordered, but as singles... which I wasn't happy about.

As a matter of fact, I will bump it up again.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm at the point where I've mailed out so much more than I've requested that I have far too many credits (they would take me years to use), so I'd rather sell them to someone who needs and would actually use them.

I don't offer many deals (just some ARC freebies right now), but I do have 7 books en route to new homes via the FIFO this week (2 already arrived).

for myself I have always sent more than I received. always have. There must be some people who work the club pretty hard because you see some of the same people here repeatedly selling large batches of credits.

Why are all the people selling credits instead of offering books

if somebody has 50 credits for sale they must have moved a few books to get that many. So it would seem that a lot of people are swapping books. and if somebody is buying credits those people must be requesting books. If you are not seeing much activity maybe you should turn over your stock of books on your shelf. I have gotten rid of my entire shelf a few times over the years. and then started over again building my shelf up with stuff I haven't had before.

I am selling credits because I have way to many. I have also given some credits to members. I do deals at times but until I get rid of some of these credits I won't be doing any deals. I see deals offered on here right now. I also have a big wish list and large book shelf. So it's not like I don't trade books on here. I mean how else did I get all these credits? Just speaking for myself

I'm currently offering a deal on my shelf.  I'm in need of credits. My deal is 2/1 or 5/2. I also have many wish listed books available. Just click the link listed below.  I rarely buy credits, I'm always on the look out for deals. laugh

I've got a line on my bookshelf that I'm open to deals but no one has ever asked.  I have a very small bookshelf.  Like Charles more than once I've purged it.  Like he said since I have a lot of redits I must have sent uut many books.  My TBR right now is just wish listed books, not many of those either.

I have always offered deals , because I need credits . Noboby takes me up on it. So I have taken alot of my books to UBS.  I would rather mail books to people here..  and I never take books to the ubs that have only copies , incase someone would like them. I have at this time many that are only copies or have only 2-3 copies.   still no luck.

I live well below the poverty line. Somehow I have still managed to make this site work for me. I came here to get rid of books, and I have always sent more than I've received. I no longer save my books. I read or listen to them, and send them on their way. I always have a deal going. Any time I get an order, I PM the requester offering them a deal. I sell my excess credits to help cover postage costs. I have had more orders than ever lately, and I've never purged my bookshelf. Those old books with many copies frequently get requested in a deal.

For me, I look at every deal that possibly interests me. I have taken up a couple people on it but my issue is I just do not see the books that I am interested in for the bookshelf deal. I don't want to order a book that I am not really going to like or not read just to get a deal. For me, I have been able to make the site work well. Believe me, if a deal works, I go for it.

I'm still astonished and a little appalled that so many people expect to sell, and worse, buy, credits for $3-$3.95!

The $3 for a credit is a new rule by the PBS Team not the members.

I don't expect a deal and rarely offer any. I figure I'm getting a book for much, much less than buying new like I always did before I joined PBS.

oh, and remember, media mail postage rate decreased this year.

I have an idea that is a little different, and it doesn't break any rules.  I have over 250 credits, because I like to send out books others will enjoy.  But, I am not ready to implement it at this time....maybe later in the fall.  Let's put our heads together and get creative on how to wheel and deal.  We just need to stir up a few new methods of swapping with freebies thrown in, for example.  I'll probably share my thoughts in Oct.  I'm too fried to tackle it now.

I can tell you most people who seem to be doing deals have a lot of Romance or Mystery. I am a huge Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Bizarro Fiction fan. The only thing I have zero interest in is Romance. I have almost 500 books on my want list and I go months without a hit.

I felt like most of the people who responded acted like they had something to defend. I was not  criticizing anyone at all. I was trying to get more people to participate in making more offers for mutltiple book deals so I could order more. When i make offers for my shelf most of the time in the past, I have offered either a 4/1 paperback or 5/1 paperback and even once or twice 6/1 and 7/1. I usually do 3/1 for hb. However, I have only seen a few other people who offer such high deals as these. Most of the people offer 2/1 and some offer 3/1. Ron W (I think that is his last initial) offers 8/2 which is like 4/1. I order from him every now and then and I love it. There have been a few others from time to time who have offered a deal similar to mine but it has been some time in the past. I am happy to say I found someone else who has a 5/1 deal going on right now and I just took her up on it by ordering 2 books and getting 8 freebies. I have a ton of books, but unfortunately, I hate posting them because I am under the delusion that one of these days I will read them!! However, I love collecting books almost to the point where I am probably a "hoarder"! :-)

I don't especially like just plain old romance books, but if it has a mystery included then I enjoy them too. My main genre is mysteries, thrillers, and I am surprised to admit that I enjoy Maggie Shayne's vampire romance books. So, since I try to only post books I have read or those I might think others might enjoy in case I haven't read them, my shelf isn't as big as it once was. I have had so many deals in the past several years that I have depleted my shelf and only recently I added a few more making it about 99 books unless someone has ordered some that I am unaware of. I added some children's books about a week or two ago which I normally don't cary too many of. And, I included some books I have not read but acquired recently from a free source. I had either read them in the past or didn't have an interest but wanted to possibly pass them on. So, since I too have a large number of credits I enjoy ordering multiple books and maybe get some I am not interested in reading with the idea of passing them along. So, I was not trying to put anyone on the defense, I was just trying to get more people to make deals instead of finding more credits for sale offers instead of book deals offers. So, hope that clears up any misunderstandings. I wasn't as worried about people ordering from me as I was about finding people I could order from.

I use my credits at the DVD and CD sites, too.  For myself, but for others:

There are always, and I mean always, things that make GREAT STOCKING STUFFERS and BIRTHDAY GIFTS!  Or just a "I'm thinking about you" gift.

I have a neighbor who is from Norway and I found these rather "unusual" DVD films by Norwegian directors........they had never seen them and were thrilled.  I found a neat Crafting in America documentary and took it over to a crafter's club and there were 20 people who took turns watching it.

Books, CDs, DVDs.  It enriches lives.

People are very grateful to know you are thinking about them.

Since I was unable to even FIND wish list multiples topic, due to all the credit sales, here is a suggestion:

The Team should create a separate topic area called CREDITS FOR SALE in the Discussion area.??

It would make shopping for actual books a LOT easier don't you guys think so?  I  think I will write and suggest it.

That way bazaar can just be about books, and credit sales can have it's own area since there are so many.  (it IS called book bazaar right?)

There have always been people selling credits here in the bazaar. Right now there are a lot more than there used to be because of the increase in price. The sales of credits has apparently slowed way down and the number of people trying to sell them has created a backlog of credits at the moment. For myself I need to limit the size of my shelf so I don't take in as many requests. I am accumulating credits faster than I can use them or sell them.

Well just sayin', I come to the "Book Bazaar" to find books.......not buy credits.  I really hope they can separate this out and have a topic area called "Credit Bazaar".

Having books bazaar with books, and easy to find threads about books, would increase the possibility that people might be able to actually get and send ...... more books.  :)

JMHO.

Like I said, it took me a while to find the WL Multiples topic, where I wanted to post mine and look at other people's offerings.

Someone else suggested that, so I tried to start a thread... I posted  one and no one posted theirs on it, they continued to start their own.
