I was looking for a quick historical to read and this met all of my expectations. Cute love story and fast paced.

A nice, fast-paced romance. The hero and heroine meet very quickly and sparks fly. It was a good start to a romance about two people who think they want nothing to do with romance, marriage, love, or even sex. The sexual tension was high and the setup was fun although a bit of a stretch.

The time frame of the book is never clearly established, although it is after 1818 since they're talking about Jane Austen's Persuasion which was published in 1818.

The love scenes were fairly steamy although somewhat brief.

Overall this was a good, not terribly memorable book.

Would a Reluctant Beauty Ever Wed . . .

Headstrong Lady Portia Derring has an impeccable pedigree . . . and not a penny to her name. Which is why she is alone on the rain-swept Yorkshire moor, waiting for a wealthy earl she has never met but whom her family insists she wed. When she's nearly trampled by the blackguard's stallion, Portia is more determined than ever to refuse Heath Moreton's suit. Handsome devil he may be, but she could never marry a rogue who's so clearly out of control!

A Wild, Incorrigible Beast?

An avowed bachelor, scion of the notorious "Mad" Moreton clan, Heath won't be shackled in matrimony. Why then does this rain-drenched beauty excite him so? Desire consumes him, but the eminently beddable lady resists his well-practiced seductions. Now only one route remains: Heath must ignore his bad blood, vanquish his inner beast . . . and prove to Portia that she's the only woman capable of taming his heart.

This one was average for me. I thought the hero was meaner than he needed to be. I did like the grandmother:-)

I don't love all of Sophie Jordon's stuff but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Something about Portia and Heath just made it right. I had a few laugh out loud moments and some tears when the characters talked about their relationships with their families. Very well rounded quick paced book.

I loved that Portia rarely backs down from Heath, even when he acts like a complete idiot. The side characters, for the most part, were kind of annoying but they are needed for the storyline.

Good easy read.

The main character in this book, Portia Derring, was introduced in "Once Upon a Wedding Night", however the two books can be read separately. The books are not considered a series.
