Duncan N. reviewed Win, Place, or Die: A Milan Jacovich / K.o. O'bannion Mystery (Milan Jacovich Mysteries) on + 83 more book reviews
This was my first novel by Mr. Roberts and I enjoyed it. Milan Jacovich and his partner K.O. are interesting PIs and the style of this story is a bit atypical. There is not a lot of physical altercation and no gun battles. The two of them asked a lot of questions, paid attention to the answers, and asked more questions until solving the mystery.
A friend's son hires the duo to investigate the father's death - which Milan is willing to do since the father virtually died in his arms. What they find is surprising and disturbing.
Set in Cleveland - a rust belt city close to my own town - I appreciated a story not set in California, LA, or Florida - or somewhere glamorous. Other people do appreciate their "hometowns".
