Good book. Quick read.
Framcesa was alone,and unprotected after the death of her father. Too gothic for me. Didn't get into it.

Probably my favorite Barbara Michaels/Elizabeth Peters book (saying quite something, considering how much I love the Vicky Bliss series). It's interesting both as a Gothic thriller and simply as historical fiction (and there's even a hint of mystery). A surprising (though not shocking) ending and likeable characters make this a must-read for MPM fans.
I usually hate period pieces, but this one was enjoyable.
