Hi all! I know, I know, I'm behind on this as well. Just wanted everyone to know that DH picked Kelly P,'s name out of the hat and she will be receiving a book from her WL for having finished this challenge! I hope you all enjoyed it and will enjoy the current one even more!

Thank you all for participating!

Wowser!! images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSXLriV2vtG1HqL7plRFbLgSsE_8pcHMsQ6LQ8KaedJb_haJlqFBQ

This is so very exciting! Thank you, Jeanne (& a special hug for DH from me)!

I got caught up in Jubilee Trail this morning and didn't get to the computer at all until now. Mom called me with the news ... and is just as excited as I am! In fact, when I said, "Shall I ask Jeanne to just ship the book directly to you?" she chuckled and allowed as how that "would be nice."

Thanks, Jeanne for such a great HF Mystery challenge last year!

Kelly

Well! As promised by last year's wonderful HF Mystery Challenge hostess, I ... uhm, I mean ... Linda received a beautiful copy of Her Highness, the Traitor by Susan Higginbotham! Linda reports that it is a beautiful, brand-new book and we are thrilled to have it!

Thank you, Jeanne! (And, thanks for mailing the book directly to Linda ... saves me the postage! wink)

Mom & I both enjoyed The Traitor's Wife (with a couple of minor irritations that aren't worth going into here) and it's been a long time since I delved into a well-written Tudor novel. And, it appears to me that the author has found a unique perspective for this book? I don't think there is much written about the short reign of Edward VI, and the immediate time following his death. ??? So, I am looking forward to reading this book soon!

Has anyone else read it? Thoughts & impressions?

Kelly

Kelly,  I read this last year, and I have to say that Susan's books have been a bit hit or miss for me.  But this one was very good.  Susan loves to write in first person, multiple viewpoints.  It is hard to pull off but in this case it worked.  You can tell Susan in a lawyer, she does her research and presents her case with credibility and a great dry wit.  Totally worth it. It was one of my best reads in 2011.

Glad to hear that "Her Highness" was a good read.  I didn't care much for The Traitor's Wife or The Stolen Crown but I was going to give the author one last try before I gave up on her.
