Maybe I've been living in a vacuum, but I sure hadn't heard of this book and am surprised that it hasn't gotten more attention...

You can read the reviews to get the book's premise.... And I don't want to give the story away here because it's worth watching it unfold on your own.  But it was want an AMAZING READ, I highly recommend it.  It's been a long time since I read a book that touched me the way this one did.

I thought that someone had posted a request for the names of books that included WWII stories in Europe, but I can't find the thread now.  At any rate, this one would fit the bill.

Treat yourself to this book.  I think you'll be glad you did.

I read that too.  Have you read anything else of hers? I just finished Magic Hour, which was really good but Firefly Lane is still my favorite.  She really does the sister/mom relationship thing really well.

I have never read a book by Kristen Hannah that I did not like.  The Winter Garden was a good book soon to be a movie from what I have heard.  I am with Margaret  Firefly Lane was the best I read in a long time.

You know, the funny thing is that I read the Readers Digest version of Winter Garden, and I liked it but didn’t love it.  Makes me wonder if the condensed versions really do lose something, because I have heard may people rant about this book.  My same RD copy has Half Broke Horses but I may wait and read the original version.

I think I have read about 4 of KH's books now and Firefly Lane is still my favorite.  She seems to have a good "formula", mothes/daughters/sisters.
