What a wonderful book this is, full of wisdom and understanding. Chodron is no "guru" or mystical oracle, but a real person who has gone through many of the problems that we all do, and has found meaningful ways to wake up to the goodness of life. These are actually talks she gave at a retreat in Gampo Abbey, and each one holds a treasure of loving compassion and understanding.

I loved this book! Everything by Pema Chodron is excellent, but in my opinion, this is one of her best. If Eastern religion has intrigued you but has seemed perhaps a little cold and impersonal, you really should check this book out. Pema Chodron is a warm, inviting, and deeply human writer who in no sense sets herself up as any kind of all-knowing guru; instead she shows exactly how and why our best spiritual teacher is everyday life itself.
