Ancient Egypt after the death of the great Ramses. The story follows the young Paneb the Ardent as he hones his skills as stonemason in the building of the great tombs of the kings. A fast-reading glimpse into the lives and times of the ancients. It doesn't delve too deeply into character development or universal meanings, but it tells a good story.

Ramses the Great is dead. Meneptah, is the new Pharoh. And the forbidden village that hides the Stone of Light - the great jewel of the ancient lands - is in turmoil. I didn't think this was worthy of 4 stars. Sometimes it seemed a bit simple. I'd give it 3 stars.

I didn't read this one. I posted my copy of this book after giving up on the 1st book in the series, it was awful.
