I just put some books on my shelf but before I could put them on hold they flagged them for someone to request from their wish list. Most of the time that would be great but I haven't read these yet. I can't take them off, put them on hold or anything so I guess when I get the request I have to tell them no? It makes me feel bad that I can't send the book but I want to read it first and it is easier for me to post it now than later. How can you post a book to your private bookshelf so this doesn't happen again?

Holly, as you have realised, the only thing you can so now is wait until the book is requested, and then hit the "I cannot mail" button".

For future, you should just put the book on your To Be Read list, then when it is read it is quick & easy to post from there.  This is the "correct" way :-) You can also see, on your TBR list, whether a book is Wishlisted or not.

Alternatively, you could put your entire book shelf on vacation hold, list the books, put these books on hold individually, then take your shelf off vacation hold. After you have read the book, release the hold.

You need to check whether books are WL or not before you post them. You can do this by adding books to your TBR or just searchign the ISBN.

I find it easiest just to keep my books on the TBR list until I am ready to post them. I don't want to see a bunch of books on my bookshelf that aren't actually posted into the system by using the hold feature.

I do sometimes post books I haven't read yet to work up FIFO. But I check the number of copies by putting htem on my reminder list.  If it's WL or not many copies posted then I don't post it until I read it.

Thank you for the response. I obviously fumbled and will put books on TBR next time. I guess this was a learning day! God Bless! Holly

Do watch the request, Holly, until the 48 hour hold is up.  If the wisher doesn't request the book within the 48 hours it will automatically roll to the next wisher and it starts all over again.  If it gets near the rollover time and the offer hasn't been accepted, put your shelf on hold so it doesn't roll, then you can individually hold the book.  The rollover time is the end of the hour after it was posted.  If you posted it at 4:28 pm, it will roll at 5pm.  But check the time zones, too.
