I have a book getting matched from my wishlist that does not meet my requester conditions. The sender rejected the "sale", but it came back again as a match. Will the system continue in this loop of offering me the same book and requiring the sender to keep saying no? Seems like it should flag that shelf as a no-match to me. Is there anything I can do other than remove the book from my wishlist? I feel bad that the person keeps getting the offer only to see its me again.

If a sender declines by clicking

  • That book does not lose its place in the "FIFO" line
  • It simply goes back into its previous place
  • The requestor's request is passed to the next person offering the book.
  • If this is a Wish List book
    • and there are other people Wishing for the book, the requestor goes back onto the Wish List at the same place "in line" and the book is offered to the next Wishing member.
    • and there is no one else Wishing for the book, the book is removed from the requestor's Wish List.
      • the book goes onto the requestor's Reminder List
      • the requestor will not be able to Wish List the book again until this copy has been sent out to another requestor (and there are no active copies in the system).

She needs to reject it for conditions, and not cancel the transaction.  She's clicking the wrong button.

There may also be a "loop" where you are one of two requesters.

If the lister doesn't want to send to either of you because of conditions, the book will continue to be passed back and forth between requesters until someone else is added to the hold que or until the lister uses the "other" option on both of you and removes it from the system.

You can check and see if this is the  case next time the book is offered to you by clicking on the title and looking at the item's record.  If it is showing someone on the waiting list (which will not be you since the system is holding the book for your answer), you will know that this is what is going on.

Thats what I was thinking might be happening, it went back to my wishlist because there was another wishlister, but neither of us could take the book. I ended up taking the book off of my wish list for now. Hopefully her book gets snatched up quickly and I can pick up the book in the future.
