I had a book on my hold shelf with that green Wa. So I hurried up and read it and posted it expecting to be asked to send it off shortly. Nope, it's just sitting there. My confusion stems from the fact that I have another copy (I really do need to be more organized about my books, you wouldn't believe how many times I do this) that is still on my hold bookshelf and it also has the green Wa next to it.

My question is does that green Wa only mean at some point in time this was a wish list book and not that it is currently a wishlisted book?

TIA

It could mean that they were out of credits and so it's gone to a 48hr WL hold. If it was still on autorequest it would go into the 1hr buyers remorse hold before it showed up as a book request. During that time it would only show on your bookshelf to you and have a gray ! by it.

If it's been more than an hour than the 1st person either didn't have credits or cancelled the book and it's been offered to the next person in line or someone else posted the book while you were reading it and now it's going to go on 48hr hold for someone else. The other copy is probably showing the autorequest as being for the person next in line after the on you have just posted.

This does not add up. You can't have a book on your Bookshelf twice unless they are different ISBNs. If they are different ISBNs, then the one you posted would not go to the Wish List line that you are seeing on the book on Hold, they are for specific ISBNs. If they are the same ISBNs and the book still shows on your shelf on Hold, then it is not posted.

She probably means it's on her literal bookshelf at home, not on her virtual bookshelf here.

This deal doesn't seem right.  If the book was on Wishlist Auto Request, you should have received the request immediately.  I don't think even the 1 hour buyer's remorse hold applies to Wish List books on Auto Request.  That would kind of defeat the purpose of Auto Request.

The one hour hold does apply UNLESS you PM the person.

You can have two copies of a book on your shelf if they both came from PBS.  Such as a book mailed that was not marked mailed or a book going lost.  Then you got a second copy from the next FIFO person.  This is a loop hole in the system.  PBS is set up to prevent us from mistakenly posted a book twice.  (As the hold mght well cause us to think the book wasn't posted.)

Ok, I just checked out a couple of things to make sure I hadn't made some kind of mistake. I requested 9780440244639 (Precious Jewel) on 12/6/09 and marked rec'd on 12/15/09. It went on my bookshelf under "hold" books. I suppose that is for ease in reposting. It then got lost on my "real" bookshelf.

I then requested the same ISBN on 1/15/10 and marked it received on 1/24/10. It also went on my "hold" bookshelf. Both books has a green Wa next to them. That's when I noticed I had 2 copies of the book. I located the second copy, confirmed the ISBN because I thought you couldn't have 2 books with the same ISBN posted twice and posted the book. It did not get the grey !. It has been on my public or posted bookshelf for about a week. I checked the "hold" bookshelf today when I went to post another book and it still has the green Wa next to it. I have double checked my books and the listing and they all have the same ISBN.  I have also double checked my transaction archive to make sure that I somehow had not requested the book but did not mark it received. I have no record of this title going lost or being cancelled. All I can find is 2 requests about a year apart and both marked received. The system will not allow me to post the second book. I tried just to see what would happen and it didn't allow me to post it.

It's a mystery to me and I'm curious about how this has happened.

There are 42 copies of that book in the system, as of today. So, it is definitely not Wish Listed anymore.

Perhaps your internet browser is caching your web pages and they are not getting updated when you view them?

So if you set your Bookshelf to show all and then do a search for that ISBN, it shows it twice? That shouldn't be possible. Does either copy have the (!) next to it? Nothing is showing in on your My Account page for that book in a Wish List Hold?

If I post a book that is on my shelf on Hold, the Held copy is gone and I have one (posted) copy on my shelf. If I try to add a book to my shelf that is already there, I get the message that its already there and I cannot add another. If the same ISBN is there twice, then I would say you probably have a glitch and that is why the posting process isn't working right. How are you trying to post the book? Checking the box and clicking Unhold, or going to the Post Books tab and keying in the ISBN? Which ever way you are doing it, try the other and see if that works.

eta: Just read Sara's post. Those little Wa symbols do get stuck in the system from time to time. The book is on your bookshelf and showing as posted on 2/3. That is probably why nothing is happening, the book is already posted.

Well, I didn't think to try that. When I looked at my hold bookshelf, it did list the book twice. And when I look at my posted shelf, it lists it there and also on my hold shelf. But when I sort by all books, it only shows up the once (as a posted book) and it doesn't have a request or anything next to it. So I guess it's just because of caching and posted vs hold shelves.

I knew somehow someone here would have the answer. Thank you.
