I've only got one, but I only have about 10 on auto-request. The one I got I consider the jackpot though. It is a British book that doesn't even come out in the US until June or July! I never thought I'd get it until then!

Traditionally this is a time when lots of wishlist books are posted, as people read and post their holiday book gifts. Isn't great when that happens?

These things come in waves Tammie, and this month is typical as Sally mentions.  I had several the first week in January, then really quiet.  I blame it on my fussy wishlist tho.

I have gotten 3 over this past week.  I always love the time right after the holidays.  One of them was one I've been waiting on for over 2 years, so that really made my day!

I was doing well with WL offers but then it just stopped.  I hope it will pick up soon cuz my WL is almost maxxed out right now!

My WL has been exploding in the last two weeks.  I keep a stockpile of credits (at least 10-15) and I'm below 10 credits right now for the first time in MONTHS!!  I just got a bunch of WL offers (usually one a day or every other day) for the last two weeks.  And many are for my keeper shelf.

I think it's the after-holidays, "Get organized" sales at all the stores - it gets people thinking about getting rid of "clutter", so they post a bunch of books they've been hanging on to!

I did that last week.  I took a good hard look at some of the books on my shelf and decided there were a few I'd never get around to (mostly cookbooks and some old financial self-help books).  Two of the cookbooks were on somebody's wishlist.

I get them pretty steadily ... but I did get the very first Wish Listed book I ever put on my WL (2 years ago) ... just this week!

It's book 4 of a series, too, so I've been waiting to read this series for 2 years now.

I think it is also a factor that folks don't post WL books in December because of the lines at the PO.  I just piled mine up in a stack until January.

Things are always really "streaky" for me...I will go a week without a WL book coming available, then there will be five or six within a 2-day period. Usually, it's a steady trickle though...2-3 a week. Which is a good pace. Occasionally I'll have a jackpot week like you did, but they are pretty rare these days, since so much of my WL are future releases with really staggered release dates.

I've been pretty lucky receiving just released wishlist books that people likely bought themselves with giftcards or whatever. The books I have received look like they've never been read as if I walked into B&N and bought them myself.

I've been averaging a couple of WLed books a month.  Its always a nice surprise.

Hi-- I am new to PBS and posted my first 10 books.  Within a daym 4 were requested, but none of my wish list books seem to be available.  I don't want to be discouraged but is this usual? How soon do you think I will start getting them and how many should I put on my wish list?

Newbie needing guidance

This site is about patience.  Waiting for WL books.  Waiting for folks to accept orders.  Waiting for books to be marked mailed.  Waiting for media mail. 

That said, do look for other versions of your WL books.  (Such as the Shinn books.)  Some books move really fast.  Some almost never.  Those two Mammoth books are going to move very slow.  First because they are heavy.  Second, because some of the stories are part of a series.  Folks will hold onto the books to fit the stories in the right order.

My theory is to suggest you to add more books to your wish list.  You can put the books on hold if you are short of credits when they get closer to the top.  The WL hold moves you up the line as you have books on hold.

(Warning-  the bookshelf hold works differently.  Don't use the individual bookshelf hold, only the vacation hold.)

I will follow your advice. I am actually really glad that my books are being requested and happy to move them on to someone who wants them.  So, in that respect, I am happy to be a part of PBS.  I will give it some time and see how I do with my wish list.
