I posted a book  over the weekend with 19 people on the waiting list. It's still cycling through members. My problem is that I'm headed out of the country tomorrow for a week.

What should I do? Should I delete the book from my shelf and re-post it when I get back?

I would think that by putting your shelf on Vacation Hold, it'll stop the cycling. But, I'm not positive on that, so I'll be interested to read the answers.

Enjoy your trip!

I've don the vacation hold thing before.  A couple of times. Once when I had a similar situation to you and I no longer had time to mail a WL book that was not being requested and another time when I noticed damage to a thrift store book after I posted it.  The first person was about to time out and I put my account on hold and deleted the book before coming off hold.  I always put my account on hold a couple of days before a vacation because you never know when a last minute order is going to come.

Once you post a book that is wishlisted, you cannot delete the book from your bookshelf or cancel it until someone accepts the request. If the person accepts you can cancel it (for example if you notice it's not postable) or if you put your account on Vac. Hold now and this person doesn't accept it, then it will be removed from circulation until you return and unhold your account. Depends on when their 48 hours is up as to if that method would work for you in this particular instance. I would put your account on hold now (unless you will have PBS access).

Okay, so it looks like I can't really do anything right now. I did PM the persona dn try to explain the situation. I realize that if they accept after I leave (Friday afternoon), it's going to time out.

I did put my account on hold this morning, but since this person has already been offered the book, it's too late!

Lesson learned: don' t post wishlist books a week before leaving town.

Thanks all.
