This is rather strange (and I may have done something wrong without realizing it . . . )

When I am getting a book from a member, I will almost always peruse their bookshelf to see what other titles they have listed. If I see something that interests me, I'll add that book to my request. I find this an easy way to get a book I might not have otherwise read or considered.

I recently did this and what's weird is that the book I'd wish listed and the second book weren't mailed at the same time. (This is what makes me think they weren't sent by the same person -- but I don't know how on got on someone else's bookshelf to request this book.) I got the wish list book, but I've never received the other book. This isn't a huge loss to me and I did get my credit back. I have hopes that it just got lost in the holiday mail and will eventually show up. (It was mailed late November/early December.)

The other day, I got a notice that a book on my wish list was available and asked if I still wanted it.

The problem was that the "wish list" book was the book that I requested with other wish listed book and was never put on my wish list by me directly.

This leads to my two questions:

1. If I do the order more from a member (or directly request a book from a member) and the transaction doesn't get completed because the book never arrived, does the book automatically go on my wish list?

2. Is there a way for me to check my swapping history to find out who sent the book I got and see if it's the same member?

Thanks.

Check your Transaction file and resort it to show books sent to you.  You should be able to see what and who there.

Thank you, Ruthy!

I just went to my Transaction Archives and see that I'm not going crazy. (I really thought I'd some how requested the books from different members on my own.)

It appears that the person who had the wish listed book cancelled my request for the other book of her shelf. Then the system automatically moved the reqeust to another person who had the book listed and that person sent the book.

I never would have known that the system puts those books on your wish list if this didn't happen to me.

Sadly, it makes me leerly (sp?) of requesting another book from a member because I don't want the book if that person can't send it.

Also if you are looking at someone's bookshelf and go the book description page-and then order the book it'll put the book to FIFO.  You have to go back to the person's shelf to order.

I'm not really understanding what the big deal is-you are still paying 1 credit for the book. So it works out the same for you.  Granted the 1st person is no longer saving postage.  Maybe they couldn't find the book and so cancelled so you could get the book from someone else.

I know it's still a credit -- but since it really wasn't a book I would define as a wish list, I'd prefer to NOT get the book if the member I requested if from doesn't have it or want to mail it. It's more of an "impulse purchase" and I guess I'd prefer the system not cater to my impulses.

Also, I kind of felt bad when I cancelled the wish list reqeust e-mail that I got after the first (second? -- I don't recall an e-mail about that book) book didn't show up.
