while i was searching and doing some study on older books  that i'm not sure if i wanted to place on my bookshelf or just add to my profile and send out as extras. most all the books i have are postable   some are older  most are newer.

using the advance search I came upon a few books that i see listed on wish list  but further searches find these books as posted on the site

and this is just one example  there are probably others.

The Elysium Commission
Author: L. E. Modesitt Jr.

ISBN-13: 9780765317209 - ISBN-10: 0765317206
Book Type: Hardcover

is listed on several wish list , i assume because its listed on these wish list as Hardcover / Hardback that the system doesn't cross it over if the book is available in paperback  which this book is..

The Elysium Commission
Author: L. E. Modesitt Jr.
ISBN-13: 9780765356543 - ISBN-10: 0765356546
Book Type: Mass Market Paperback

most of my problems with older books deal with several printings and usually different publishers although several of these don't have the newer ISBN to cross with so several of the books are the same book with either different printing or publisher.

So this is just a thought for you with a specific book on your wish list  and you don't mind if its paperback or hardback you might want to search the system to see if the book is available.

I'm still walking through the FAQ's  and trying to learn about the site fully  , i do think i read where certain books would be linked and also a person who has a book on the wish list  has the option of similar  books.

also, if you've got a book posted that is wishlisted under another ISBN, you can add a tag on the WL version with 'see also ISBN X' and that may get people to look at an alternate edition.

yeah, the thing is, most people who WL a book in hardcover WANT the book in hardcover. We're collectors, not just readers ;-)
