I have an offer for a book on my wish list but cant get it at the moment because I am waiting for books I sent out to others to arrive and then get credit on my account. My question is , should I just let the time run out and keep my position in line or hit the I DO NOT WANT BOOK button ? Which is the right way to keep in line for the book ? And the last time this happened I believe the book actually went totally of my wish list and I had to find it over agian. How can I keep it on my list and stay in line ?????

Either way you won't be able to keep your position in line. If you let the book time out it will be removed from you wishlist. You can readd it but you will go to the back of the line.

If you hit the I do not want this book button. Again it will remove it from your list and you will go to the back of the line if you readd it,

The only thing you can really do is either buy a credit to get the book or ask someone to loan you a credit until the books you mailed out get marked received. Hope that helps :)

Mark, I loaned you a credit- go ahead and get your WL book and just return it when you get in a position to do so.  It can take awhile to get a little momentum going here at PBS- a cycle of sending things in and out that works.  Happy holidays!

For the last 4 days, I have closely scanned my dailys.  I have yet to find a book that I could get.  Either I had to buy it new or put it on my wish list.  This has gotten to look more like a site to sell new books than to trade old ones.  What is going on?  I gave up on even putting them on my wish list because some of the books I wanted already had 20some people already on the wish list.

Roberta - no one here sells the books, the Buy It New takes you off the site to Amazon.  If a book has a WL its usually best to get in line right away. That way you will work your way to the front of the line and if you happen to get the book from somewhere else before then then just remove it from your WL. This site works on a first in line system. The first one to request the book is going to get the first chance at it if it gets posted.

20 people may not be a long line for a popular book. Though its true that some books may only get a copy listed once every year or two if ever, some move very quickly. I was well over 400 when I WL Harry Potter 7 and got it in about 3 months. One book I have on my TBR hadd a WL of 14-15 for over 2 weeks, then over last weekend enough copies got posted that it went to zero.

Happy Swapping!

Roberta --

Some popular books go very quickly at PBS.  Many of those posted that you wanted were probably on someone's wish list.  Books move at different rates so a very popular book with 20 people on the wishlist could take as little as a month for you to come to the top of the list.

My bookshelf is on hold at the moment because I'm about to go on vacation, but if you click on the highlighted names of people in the forums you can browse individuals bookshelves and see that there are plenty of books available to be requested right now.  You might try that in the genere form (romance, chick lit, mystery) to find people who have the same interests as you do.  There are lots and lots of books available at PBS.  I just mailed out five from my shelf.

Good luck finding something you want to read!

Hi Roberta,

Books with 20 folks waiting could be offered to you fairly quickly. I just went and took a look at The Pulse of PBS and here is the latest stat for Books Mailed in last 7 days: 39,427 . I have been 100 of 100 on a wishlist for a book and have had it offered to me within a few months. With over 60,000 members here you may be pleasantly surprised how many books you will receive and enjoy. Right now I have a few books on my Wishlist that have more than 100 members in front of me, and they seem to be moving fairly quickly. In the meanwhile, I have found lots of books to enjoy while waiting for newer releases. The nice thing about being a member here is that I can now try genres that I may never have when I was purchasing every book I read new.
