I know, people who frequent these boards probably aren't guilty of this...but I am so incredibly frustrated about the wish list for a couple of books I recently posted. One is currently on its fourth wisher--I posted the book over a week ago--and none of the first three ever responded. It's pretty irritating to sit there and watch that book sit on your shelf (the book started with 22 wishers, now it's down to 18) and have it not be claimed. Finally today, it flipped to someone who has it on auto request. Yay! I know the wisdom for letting it weed those people out, but it's still irritating. Melissa |

That's happened to me with the last 2 or 3 books I've posted. The last one had almost 40 wishers on the list, and now two people have lost their slots. It's hard to understand... |

I know how you feel. Once, a book I posted went through 7 wishers! I think it took about 2 weeks to get to the 7th person. I was beginning to think that no one wanted the book. Sometimes, if I know a member has a book on their wish list, I post it directly to them. |

how you can track the number of wishers once a book has been requested? |

I was going to post my last book directly to someone's wishlist, but then I felt guilty about bypassing everyone who was on the wishlist before that person. In retrospect, after going through several wishers before having it accepted, I should have just gone ahead and followed my original plan!! |

thats why i usually try to post to my buddies before offering it through FIFO |

I have almost never had that problem. Guess I'm just fortunate. |

I don' t have that problem very often, but that one book took over a week to be requested! It's frustrating, because I only go to the post office once a week and I dislike it when my schedule gets disrupted. (Yes you could say that it's probably good for me to have it disrupted every once in awhile :)) I may start looking through my buddies before posting something, but I guess I also feel like it helps to weed out the inactive wish lists too... It happens, but I try not to pay much attention. I learned pretty quickly that I shouldn't let my reading be guided by which of my books were on someones WL--lol! It was kind of surprising the first time I read a WL book just because I thought I'd get a quick credit out of it--turned out none of the people took it. Oh well, such are the hard learning experiences ;-) Now I take it all with the attitude that maybe I'll get a taker. I can see how it might be frustrating for someone who was down to her last credit. And as you mentioned, Melissa, there are the post office runs, which can be a problem. If I get in a bind and can't make an easy run by the PO, I use the PBS postage. It is worth it to me to save the gas, if I only have 1 book to mail. It is irritating to think that some people are just rude and uncaring, though, but I try not to let them control my attitude or feelings.

I'm like Megan....wish list books have not been a problem for me. I haven't gone through more than 2 people when posting a wish list books. |

Ok ... a question. And I think maybe I have the answer, I just want to be sure I'm not missing something. By posting directly to a WL, is this via buddy credits? |
|||
|
|||
Linda, Posting directly to a WL is not done through buddy credits. When you click on the WL button on a member's profile, a list comes up. Next to each book, there's a button that says "Post This Book". This will enable you to post a book directly to that particular member's WL. Hope this helps! ~Erica |
