I know others probably dont' have this problem - HA! But my tbr is huge-mongouse and I have about 100 books(actually went through and removed a bunch) on my WL..when I put them on there I was like #50 or #100..well now I"m #5 of 100 or #3 of 150..I still want the books but just don't want them right now darn it! If I move them to the RL then I'd have to start back over at 100 or 151...I wish there was a way to pause the book then click to get back in the line...just certain ones..sorta like saving my place in line and letting others go ahead...

anyone else wish we could do this? I don't want to put my entire wl on hold just certain books...

If you put your account on vacation hold, and have the auto-request on all your WL books set to "no" then you will not be offered books, and you won't lose your spot in line (when you take yourself off vacation hold)

You could go on hold and then autorequest the ones you definately don't want to miss.

I think the new WL-if they ever implement it-is going to allow us to just hold WL books.  I would love that.  I have 500+ books in my TBR.  I want to send out books but not get WL books. I just put my shelf on hold for a month.  I put a couple OOP/HTF books on autorequest just incase.  (One was actually posted to me).  I was going to keep my shelf on hold until my TBR went from 574 to 499.  But I managed to get down to 560.  I might go back on hold again soon. But I noticed that I was only near the top on a couple of books so I came off hold in hopes of getting some book orders.  (I got 2).

I deleted a couple of WL books that I know I can easily get at the library and that I know won't be WL for long.  (new releases by really popular authors).  If I see myself nearing the top spot on a book then I"ll probably go on hold again until I read/post a few WL books.

If someone PMS me asking if I want them to post some directly to me I'm going to say no. I am short on credits (which is a first for me)-so I have a good excuse.

hmm I guess that would work since for once I have credits! Usually I spend them down to nothing but now I actually have some...

I do move some books to my RL by using the convert-checked button.  I do this when there are many copies posted last week and I don't want the book just yet.  Sometimes I convert-check it to RL and then convert-check it right back to WL just to move fuirther back in line.

For books in a series I move some of the books to my RL to avoid getting them out of sequence.  This requires some type of external system to keep track and plan when to move them back to the WL.  I'm looking forward to the new individual hold WL changes.

Well, this will be one of the benefits of the new wishlist, once it is in place!  You can turn down a WL book and still retain your place in line.

I'm with you. I've accepted 5 WL books recently that have very long lines because I didn't want to try to work my way all the way back through from the end. I hope I can read and repost them soon, but I much rather would have had the opportunity to skip my turn but keep my place.

While there isn't a formal method for putting just your wishlist on hold, you can get the same effect with creative use of Requestor Conditions - just put up some conditions that 99.9% of people will reject.

"I only accept books that come with a box of chocolates.  4lbs minimum, creams only, no nuts or coconut."

or

"I cannot accept books from tiger-free households.  If this book has not been rubbed by a tiger, please decline."

Hm...are we allowed to put up a RC that says "I am currently short on credits and will only accept WL offers for X, Y and Z books. If this is not one of them please say that your book does not meet conditions so the next swapper can get it"?

I have also Jane and I feel bad about it because I know it'll be 6 months to a year or more before I get to them but the way I read I never know and don't want to start over at 200 then find out I'm ready to read it 2 months later. I guess that'll be one good feature of the new wl. At least I keep track more or less what's coming up close so I'm not surprised though last week I had about 4 wl posted that i was 3-5 on the list...
