The best book I have ever read about the maturing of a female veterinarian.

This was a pretty good read. It's shocking the things they do in vet school. I didn't know they'd take rejects from the animal shelters and operate on them to learn the procedure then euthanize the animal. Makes me want to go adopt every one from ours. She did get a bit technical at times but she does describe the schooling so a layman can understand what goes on. I had wanted to be a vet when I was young, but now I know, I could never had done the work.

A veterinary student's journal. A excellent read for any vet student or vet tech or anyone interested in veterinary medicine.

Absolutely fabulous book written by a veterinarian about her 4 years of vet school: What it was like, the classes all vet students had to take, the constant work and pressure that they'll never learn enough and could be kicked out at any time if they fail too many tests. Loretta Gage, DVM went to Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in Fort Collins, CO in the mid-1980's, but little has changed since then in the classes vet students have to take the the huge amount of learning they have to acquire in their 4 years of vet school.
Anyone thinking of becoming a vet or wondering what the learning process is like for a student vet, this is a wonderful book! Well-written, easy to read, full of rich detail and fascinating stories of her journey to becoming a vet. I highly recommend it for a great read that will teach you as in interested layman and give you an even better respect and understanding of what these men and women of the veterinary world do for our animals.
