I recently posted several books that I knew were on many member's wishlists.  I had expected that they would be snatched up in a matter of moments after I listed them, but that hasn't happened.

One book in particuliar was Janet Evanovich's Fearless Fourteen.  As I reviewed the wishlist again for this book I noticed that the ISBN numbers do not match up with mine.  Is that why my book has requested yet?

Kathy,

Books are wish listed by ISBNs.  It is very likely, that while the title itself is wish listed, people are looking for specific versions or bindings and your binding/version may not be the one they are looking for.

There's 45 copies of your version available in PBS. So people probably really want the version they have WL.  Some people collect specific cover pictures or editions because of the size. Although there is a hardcover version that's WL.  Is yours the book club edition?  A lot of people don't like those.

You could try tagging the hardcover and paperback version with the ISBN of yours.  Like "45 posted under ISBN xxxx".  But the orders will go to the people who posted the book first. I wouldn't tag the audio or lrg print versions because when people WL those they generally reall want that version.

I noticed a book on someone's WL today that I knew had another version in the system with hundreds of copies posted.  They were both listed as mmp.  So I tagged the WL version with the ISBN of the one posted. Don't know if it'll make a difference or not but maybe one of those people will see it and order one of the 200+ mmps that are in the system already.  I had a copy of the heavily posted version and mine was requested pretty quickly.  But I tagged it anyway.

Quite often members don't realize that there is more than 2 possible versions of a title - HC and Paperback.   So they don't do extensive searches and ask for the first one that comes up and fits their needs.  Tagging other ISBN's with the same binding/size or even different size will help those who only want a good copy and isn't particular about the details.  I'd tag it - I've done it before and it got my book taken even though there were lots of people on the WL for the "other" ISBN and none for the one I had posted.

You can book bazaar and have create a post -subject -  name of book or author WL with different ISBN   then in the text area list the name/author and ISBN of your book.

You can go to the the genre forum and there is a red sticky thread book deals, offer and book promotion - list in that thread.  I would do it under the mystery forum.

I also tag the WL book with - posted under ISBN (your ISBN number).  Like Mary said it is FIFO at that point and there are alot of books ahead of you but it could speed up the process. Remember any member that has that book on their WL will receive a email (unless they turned the option off) that a book has been posted that is similar to their WL book.

Also look in the book bazaar - there are generally people looking for janet evanovich deals so if you have more than one of her books you can offer it as a 2/1 deal.  Just a thought.  I hope it works out.

I have the same thing on my bookshelf.  I travel a lot so some of my books originate from UK/Ireland and have different ISBNs.

Most people have just want a good readable copy - another reason to list all possible ISBNs when WLing a book.

I must try tagging the others that are listed and see if mine are requested.

A lot of times Canadian and UK ISBN's don't come up right away in the PBS system. So when people are adding a book to WL it may not give them that version. They don't usually get added until someone has the book to post and manually imputs it into the system.  PBS gets most of their listing info from the US Amazon site.

I have some Canadian books that aren't in the PBS system adn I will have to manually add them.
