If I order any more books, my bookshelves will probably topple over on me in retribution, but if nobody's interested in The Swiss Courier by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey, please let me know, 'cause it's on my WL! :)

ETA: Yay! Thanks, Deborah!  *ducking protesting bookshelves*

I would love to get Measure of Mercy and Leaving Yesterday. They are both on my wishlist. Just let me know what to do. I don't know if they are the same ISBN. Thanks, Meg

Thought there were rules against offering/posting ARC books? Am I wrong?

I don't think these are ARC's.  I think these are regular books that are wish-listed.   Since this is a self-policed community,  the rules are enforced more strictly in some forums than others, depending on the "culture" of the particular forum.  The Book Bazaar and the Love & Romance forums are very strict about the rules and will politely inform people when they break the rules, or not-so-politely for repeat offenders.  The Christian Book Recommendations forum is not too strict about the rules, but I wish we would start policing ourselves a little better because sometimes the individual "Deal" threads totally drown out the discussion of books, which is the purpose of this forum.  From what I can gather up from various sources, these are the rules for posts about WL books and posts regarding deals:

-You cannot ASK for WL'ed books on any forum
-You may OFFER WL'ed books on the genre forums only.  Most forums have a "Is this on your WL?" thread for each month for this purpose.
-You may not offer WL'ed books on the Book Bazaar

-You can ASK for deals on non-WL'ed books on any forum and you can offer deals for non-WL'ed books on any forum.
-In the Book Bazaar, you can create your own thread for your deal and there are rules there about how many and how often.
-On the genre forums, OFFERING deals or advertising your bookshelf should be done ONLY in the red sticky thread at the top of the page.
-On the genre forums, ASKING for deals or looking for specific books should be done on the "Is this on your Bookshelf?" thread if there is one.

This forum really doesn't get much traffic, and I think people would use it more if we policed ourselves a little better and didn't let it become just a Christian version of the Book Bazaar.

The rules are real, as far as I can tell.  The rest of it is just my opinion, which you are free to disagree with.  We have a great group of supportive, positive people on this forum and I love that part of it.  We want to keep it that way and always be kind and considerate of one another, but that doesn't mean we can't police ourselves nicely.  ***ducking so you can throw things at me if you want! ***

And to answer Lisa's original question, there are rules against posting ARCs.  You cannot post them to your bookshelf like a regular book.  You can, however, offer them in the Book Bazaar or in the red sticky threads at the top of the genre forum.  In those places, you can ask for a credit for them as long as you disclose what they are or you can offer them as unpostable freebies with an order from your shelf.

Deborah, thanks for starting this thread. I have some I'll want to offer next month.

thanks for the explanation Christa. except for swope's ridge, none of the books are ARCs. i only threw that one up there b/c usually when i post about those, they got lost in the shuffle so i figured more people would look at this thread.

I think what you did was fine, Deborah.  Since that book is WL'ed, you can include it in your WL post as long as you declare it is an ARC.

Deborah, I ordered Swopes Ridge. Just got the first one at a thrift store and had wish-listed the second one. Now I don't have to wait:)

Thanks!

Christa--

You say we aren't allowed to offer WLed books in the Book Bazaar forum. Is it ok if one is an ARC and you're looking to send two books as a set? I did this a couple months ago and no one complained. I wasn't trying to break the rules so I'd just like to know for future reference just in case. Thanks!

Amee,

There are lots of gray areas around the edges of the Book Bazaar rules and people usually don't complain about things in the gray areas...just the really blatant and repeated rule-breaking.  But there is a red sticky post at the top of the Bazaar with the official hard and fast rules and then there is a floating post somewhere on there with more detailed explanations.  You could ask your question on that post and the people who are most familiar with the rules will probably answer.

Edited to add the link to the BB's floating rules thread  Hey everyone. There are some rules for posting here, please read them   Note that these are the rules for Book Bazaar....not the Christian Book Recommendations forum

Hi guys,

I have the following WL books available.  As I'm also trying to save on postage, preference will be given to those who choose 2 or more, or one from here and one from my shelf, etc.

A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist (115 wishers)

The Restitution (Barbour Value Fiction) by MaryLu Tyndall (8 wishers)

Coral Moon (Kanner Lake) by Brandilyn Collins (5 wishers)

Fools Rush In: A Novel (Weddings by Bella, Bk 1) by Janice Thompson (39 wishers)

Angry Conversations with God: A Snarky but Authentic Spiritual Memoir by Susan E. Isaacs (20 wishers)

A Lever Long Enough by Amy Deardon (5 wishers)

Echoes (Sequel to Secrets & Unforgotten) by Kristen Heitzmann (1 wisher) (unpostable due to slight water damage; would like a credit since it's a WL book)

The Shack by William P. Young (between 1 and 78 wishers, depending on the ISBN)

Hidden (Sisters of the Heart, Bk 1) by Shelley Shepard Gray (30 wishers)

Send me a PM if you're interested! I'll be adding more asI come across them!
