Hello everyone - I am wondering if I need to do anything about this situation. I have had a book on my WL for over a year and it is about to be released in a few weeks. The title of the book has changed since it was first announced a year and a half ago, but I checked Amazon and the ISBN is the same. I am concerned that I will be up for it (I am pretty close to the front of the line) and someone will deny my request since the titles won't match. Thoughts? |

You can edit the books title. Bring up the book and under more options click on Edit book data. THere will be a section where you can fill out the reason for the change. Put in there the sites that show the title change so the book data editors can confirm the change. It would also be nice if you do it for every edition that might be in the PBS database. |

One book that has a title change is Janet Chapman's Highlander Christmas. The original title was All I want for Christmas is a Highlander. I uploaded the new cover when I saw it & I had put the new title in the tags, but the listed "official" title never changed & I was fine with that. DIdn't know WE could change a title. There might be others, but that's the one I know about. |

I think they are resistant to changing the book title, unless there is abundant "proof". If you fill out the Edit Book Data page, in the 'Reasons for Change" field, make sure you explain where the info comes from so they can check it too. Explain its a new ISBN, not released yet, title changed, maybe the authors website (if it tells the title change), etc.

Remember that the book edit group are volunteers. It is important to put where you got the info from. |

I would check the author's website and let them know you found the information but they generally want more than just Amazon as a reference point. It is easier to change a title of a book as long as there are not any in the systems. So if it is going to happen - it should happen now. I would contact Sherry N. (royaltech) or Patty P. (Patouie). The are Data coordiantors and approvers and will help you through the process. |

Sara & Emily are right in their suggestions that you add the information that "PROVES" that the title was changed after the first release. We are often denied a title change unless we can prove nearly unrevokably to PBS that it really should be changed, so any proof that you can provide the approver (using the 'Reasons for Change" field) would be of great help to us. And as Jubead said, myself or one of the other approvers (they have a yellow BDC icon) can help you if you need help. |

Any time you post a change to the book data - it's good to let them know where you got the information. It saves them time. Ruth |

Even if the title area will not be changed or cannot be changed, you can add a note to the description field, such as: Also published under the title "XXX" or Alternate title: XXX |

If it helps ease your concerns, I was on the WL for Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters before that was the released title. IIRC, it was originally listed as Pride and Predjudice and Zombies 2 or something like that. When the title was changed in the system, my place in line did not change. |
