I've looked in the help desk and searched in the forums, there's probably something along this line posted, but I haven't seen it.

That said, I posted a book, New Moon by Rebecca York, that I figured would be wishlisted, made sure I had the correct isbn, 9780425216026, and didn't get any hits.

I then searched under wishlisted books and found two entries for this same book, but with 5 digit isbn's.  Is there a way to fix the isbn's on those entries?  One is listed as 66068 and the other is 77973.
I'm not sure how someone managed to get those in the system, anyway.

I clicked on 'edit book data' and fixed the genre listing and some discription typos for both entries.  The info for the correct 13 digit isbn is right.

I'd like to send this out, but don't know who would be first on the wishlist.

ETA - I read some more and I think the short isbn's are assigned by PBS when a book is entered w/out one. Yes?

You're correct. Those short numbers are assigned because the books were posted without an ISBN.

Not much you can do other than Tag the WLed versions with the ISBN you have like "available on PBS under #780425216026" or something like that and maybe post in the BB that you have it or put it in your siggy line. The people WLing the book may have done it that way for a reason. They also may have your version on the Reminder list and will see that its been posted and order it.

How many of your version are posted? Is the cover the same? If there are copies of yours already available then they may want that specific cover-assuming it's different.   I posted a Kinley McGregor w/the original cover.  The newer version was available but someone had WL the older one because she was collecting the older covers.

If there's none of your version: I would advertise it in the book bazaar or your signature line.  Also tag it like the other poster suggested.

I don't think it's wishlisted, is it? I have it on my reminder list (since I have three of the others in the series) and there are several of the paperbacks in the system already if I wanted to go ahead and order it.

ETA: Here's what the one says under my reminder list:::

New Moon :: Rebecca York
ISBN-13: 9780425216026 - ISBN-10: 0425216020
Copies Available: 16

I'm going to assume that those who have wishlisted this book under the site created isbn's haven't bothered to check and update their lists.

eh. I'll just wait in line!  *grin*
