Beautifully plotted, with a sharp eye for the comedy of middle-class England

Carole's son is getting married and it comes to light her future daughter in law's family has some murderous skeletons in the closet. After an engagement party, Gaby's father is found murdered. Carole decided to find out why and to see what kind of family her son is marrying into. I usually enjoy this series but I thought this one was weak. Carole as a lead character is also hard to warm up to.

Carole and Jude are neighbors who've become friends (even tho they are VERY different). Along their way, they also solve mysteries (sometimes when others don't even know there was a crime).

Good series, great example in this book.

"The 'odd couple' is a staple of a classic whodunit, and Brett gives it a sweet twist."- The NY Times
