I thoroughly enjoyed this book, written by an award-winning Australian author. She searches down a mystery of an immigrant woman in America who decides to walk to Russia from New York, via the Yukon and Bering Strait in the 1920s. An amazing story, lushly enhanced by lots of historical stories of the Yukon, Canada, and Alaska. It was a personal quest that turned obsession into fascination for this reader. Great read!

I was looking for the woman who walked to Russia as well; and I am satisfied that the mystery is solved. This is more a tale of the journey of the author and I enjoyed taking the trip with her. It was amazing that this woman even left any trail at all to follow and it is a wonder she traveled so far to the Great North alone.
