During the late-nineteenth century drive for women's rights, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and two dozen other prominent sufferagette leaders set out to dispute the notion that the Bible upheld the subjugation of women. The result is uneven, frequently at odds with itself, and was ultimately repudiated by the National American Women Sufferage Association. It remains a curiosity at best.
